I bought a 1995 Mercedes E320 in October of 2005 from AutoSource in Virginia Beach. The day that I completed the paperwork, the vehicle began to give me trouble. It did not want to start, raising my concern. The sales associate assured me at that time that any problems with the vehicle would be taken care of before I drove it off of the lot, he also offered me an extended warranty through a private vendor, assuring me that any future problems would be covered.
I picked my Mercedes up a few days later, and at that my sales associate assured me that the vehicle was running just fine, "the problem has been fixed". Not even two weeks later the car stalled on me at a local convenience store. I had to have it towed back to my residence. When I contacted the dealer Craig (manager) informed me that the wiring system needed to be adjusted and I should take the car to a local electrical shop and get "all of the aftermarket products out of it, setting it back to factory settings".
I did just that. That was just the beginning of the troubles with this vehicle. Since then the car has broken down 4 more times. The dealer had it taken to one of their own mechanics (after I threatened to contact the news) & had "the problem fixed". The mechanic kept the car for a week, and after the claimed to repair the problem, the car broke down the day after I picked it up. The last break down was coming off of the interstate almost causing a pile up & putting my life in danger.
The car was towed to a local shop that says that they have found the problem. They said the engine harness is split & worn causing the wires to expand and contract with the rise and fall of the heat in the engine. According to them it is an $1,100 repair, which is NOT covered under the extended warranty that I paid an extra $2,000 for.
So now the car is in the shop yet again, the warranty does not cover the problem, I have to rent a vehicle until I figure out what to about the car & the dealer wants nothing to do with the situation.
Can someone please help with info regarding lemon laws in Virginia??
