I have a friend who needed a means of transportation desperately. He heard of Bangor Car Care on the radio and decided to check it out. We spent all that Saturday on 1-31-04 and ended up with a 1996 light blue Ford Windstar van.
These people told my friend all he needed is a job, drivers license, and bank account. My friend did not have a bank account at the time, so the Bangor Car Care suggested he use mine, since it was my $800.00 being put down on the van anyway, so my friend I agreed. My friend and I signed paperwork and they plainly said if we have any problems, give them a call. My friend took that van home and to work a couple times putting ONLY 700 miles on it and the transmission started leaking everywhere...he was like a mile from his house so he filled the fluid back up and drove it home and parked it...he has neighbors that can vouch that the blue van sat in the driveway for that whole time.
Mr Glen G. says my friend put over a 1000 + miles on itthat is an outright lie. He has lied to my friend, myself, the Attorney Generals office to mention a few. My friend called Bangor Car Care immediately the day this happened and the lady on the phone told him he would have to pay for all the repairs. My friend told her he could not afford to do that and also it was under an inspection warranty and the exhaust was leaking in 3 places so it needed that fixed...the next time they called him, they said to bring the van to Wilber Rowe in Palmyra Maine and my friend would only have to pay 30%. He told her he can not afford that either.
But, as ordered, my friend refilled the transmission back up with fluid and did as told by Bangor Car Care to drive it to this shop for repairs. Mr. Glen G., the owner of Bangor Car Care, finally called after his secretary got very ugly at my friend on the phone (at a late time of after 8 PM mind you) and told my friend he can have another car off his/their lot so they won't get in any legal trouble with the State etc...I stepped in and told them I wanted my $800.00 back because nobody in their right mind would buy from them after this crap they have put us through.
These people had a van in the shop the day we were there that would not pass inspection because the rear winshield wiper would not function properly, so they took it off and replaced it with a cap! That is how these people do things. Next thing we know Mr. Glen G. is calling my friend trying to sweet talk him into deals he does not want which really irked my friend and my friend did say some bad words to this man and hung up on him so to save any more badmouthing.
Next I find out Bangor Car Cares Finance Co. Persian Acceptance Corp. 83 Pine St. Suite 101 Peabody, MA 01960 has denied either of us the loan for the vanthis is another reason we have rights to our $800.00 back. The loan never went through! So we would have had to return the van anyway! To make a long story short, we let the van go back...and contacted the Attorney General...who gave us a packet to take Mr. G. to Small Claims Court. In the meantime, I send Mr. Glen G. an e-mail asking for my $800.00 back in 3 different e-mails trying to do this as civil as possible worded like this: but why in the world would my friend, or I, or anyone else want to buy from you when you treat people like you do? Have you seen what the Better Business Bureau says about your dealership?
I have found out my friend is not the only one you stole money from Sir, or ripped off. The money is needed here NOW by me, since My friend has taken matters into his own handsit may take a while but one day Sir you will not think you are so clever in steeling my money.I need it NOW for my kids. You well know its hard to raise kids, couple or single, and I have 4 of them, let alone my raising them by myself. I have spoken to several State officials etc. One day Justice will prevail Sir.
Thank you for your time in responding alsoI'm it took a lot of your precious time.
Anyways, my money is sitting at Bangor Car Care for absolutely no reason. I am a single mom of 4 kids that could desperately use this money NOW! I have tried to talk reason with this dealer to no avail. I have paperwork that states the "Immediate Rejection of a Defective used Vehicle" law...and many other papers stating reasons I by rights should receive my money back.
This last e-mail by Mr. Glen G. after I emailed him saying My friend is not my husband which he kept referring his as being, states as follows:
"now that i realize that your not even part of this transaction except for the fact that you lent mr. west some money//your right we should have no furthur communication eacept to say you werent on the contract and its not your deal to be given opinions on//
good day "
So, if I am now voided from a contract Bangor Car Care insisted I enter, than how is it possible they can keep my money in a voided contract? Mr. G. cares nothing for any of his customers or for how much my kids and I need this money and I plan to make it known to everyone how he ripped me off and left me to hang.

Bangor Car Care continues to rip off

I have been screwed by Bangor Car Care too. I bought a vehicle there, and one of the first problems was immediately as I drove off the lot. The horn didn't work. I called them and complained until they said they would fix it. I drive all the way up there, they are too busy and I need to come back. So I drive all the way up again.....of course still busy. What do they do.....they hand me the part to the horn and say so long. A cars horn has to work in order to pass inspection, which this vehicle didn't have from the beginning. I had more mechanical problems with vehicle, but the only thing to happen when you complain is to get put off or empty promises. I learned of two other people who have all had similar issues with BCC and you couldn't pay any of us to go buy a car there, and we let everyone we know that this is NOT the place to get a car!! A local garage told me after this that one should never get a car there and he couldnt tell you how many buyers from there have had problems. Glen is interested in the almighty buck and could care less about customer service!!

My car from bangor car care wouldnt pass inspection right off the lot

We bought a GMC jimmy in feb 07. From the moment we drove it off the lot it pulled to one side of the road. We were told it needed an alligment 50$ no big deal. However, it seriously needed ball joints. We took it to two different dealerships and it was deemed not legally safe to drive and should have never passed inspection. We called in and got the Rude secretary. If we hadnt landed right on their door step, we never would have gotten it fixed!

Well,
I personally think that Bangor Car Care is a great place and they are very friendly and hospitable! Maybe you are just filing a report to make a scene, or you just dont like Glenn. I have know Glenn for over 15 years and he is a good man and is not a dishonest person. I truely believe that maybe your friend didn't tell you all the details, and most likely was the one that damaged the van on their own without even telling you. You were not the one in or driving the car so you dont know the straight facts, so if anyone is filing this report, it should be your friend and not you!
