Facing marital breakup of 28 years, my youngest son being sent to Iraq, and other hardships I was forced to find work with a 9th grade education and little work experiences. I was approached by a representative from BCTI outside the welfare office who promised a whole new life for myself in the computer business. I was interviewed and accepted after I had completed some kind of a test that would qualify me for student loans. I was given already completed forms to sign and was told that in just a short 71/2 months I would be able to get a job anywhere that my little heart desired in the computer world.

Shortly after attending I was beginning to think something was wrong. The teachers were disappearing one after another. I would arrive to class, only to be waiting the first 15 to 20 minutes for the instructor to figure out either what he was supposed to be teaching or watching him run to another instructor to find out how to do the subject he is supposed to have already learned and be teaching us. Little time was spent on actual leaning material in my classes.

A considerable amount of time was wasted by teachers talking about things that did'nt even pertain to computers and by other activities such as graduations of which of course the whole school was encouraged to attend. Other time was spent at basketball, golf, and other sport contest in which the winner was allowed to choose a dimestore prize.(coffee mugs, etc...)

Around the 3rd. month, I missed some days because of family illnesses, surgeries, etc. When I returned to school, either the counselor or the dean himself assured me that i could continue on right where I left off and that anything I missed would made up later on after I graduated or they would tutor me.

A month before graduation arrived I felt that I had learned very little and requested to retake the course, which set my date from Oct.15,2004 to Mar.2,2005 for graduation. March 2005 approached and I still felt that I had learned nothing more than when I first started. I figured it was due to my absentes, so I started all over again only to realize that it wasn't any different than when I first started on March 23,2004.I went to the dean and complained about my experiences there and he promised that I would recieve my G.E.D., and help finding a job while i was retaking the classes. By this time most of the teachers had either been laid off or dismissed (according to the dean of the school.) The next time I turned around the dean was going around to each of the classrooms assurring all the students that what we read in the newspapers and heard from others was all false and we had nothing to worry about as far as our school closing and that we would all graduate. Two weeks later BCTI closed its doors in our faces leaving us with no education as far as computers go, and hugh student loans that we still have to pay back.

I know for a fact that I myself dont have enough knowledge to even get a job at Mc Donald's restaurants much less in the computer field. How am I supposed to repay these loans. If anyone has any suggestions or is filing a lawsuit please contact me as I cannot afford to hire a lawyer myself.

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest, I have many more gripes against BCTI but feel I need to limit my complaints due to lack of space.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Staff decieved too. completely deceptive/dishonest/immoral the way the "christian" owners Tom & Morrie mislead students and staff

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 25, 2005

Jeanne,

I am curious to know what campus you attended (but from what you described it could be any of them).

It is completely deceptive/dishonest/immoral the way the "christian" owners Tom & Morrie mislead students and staff. They knew very well what was happening/coming for BCTI.

At the campus where I worked, in late 2004 the co-owner Tom Jonez came to my campus and we had a mandatory all staff meeting. In this meeting, he told all of us (including the ED) that 1. The investigation into BCTI by the state was finished, and was found to be baseless (we all know now that was a lie), 2. Our campus was definately not going to be closing (a lie), 3. the investigation by the accredidation company was complete and again all complaints were without merit (a lie), and 4. how lucky we all were to be a part of the BCTI family and that anyone that does not have complete faith in BCTI should not be there (a good idea). Almost everything Tom said in that meeting turned out to be untrue. (What I would give to be able to turn back the clock and walk back into that meeting again).
The two owners and the VPs knew everything, the other 99% of the staff were lied to.
My point being that when your Dean went around telling students not to worry the rumors were false, that is what he had been told.

If you, or anyone else, wants to share their 'thoughts' with the two owners Morrie & Tom, you can find them in their family of churches in the Gig Harbor area.
