First, I want to say that as a former employee of BCTI, I have to admit that it shames me now when I see former students out in public. My intentions were always the best, even though it now appears that I was in bed with the bad guys, BCTI. I was not! As a matter of fact, I HAD to leave due to the ethical questions I raised that never got any good solid answers.

I have seen Tony Curry mentioned on this site. I hope he is still reading these reports, because I know he will know who is writing this report. He and I were both of the understanding that things at BCTI were just plain wrong. We talked often about our own desire to help students find a better life, but it was difficult to ensure we could help, given the circumstances that were out of our control.

As an instructor it was difficult to truly dedicate enough time to the students who were trying to improve their skills. On many occasions the DI was telling me that a student who had spent maybe 5 days of the progress period in class, needed to be ready to graduate in a matter of days. How can an instructor manage to bring that person up to speed and give them their money's worth in a matter of days, help plan the graduation, and keep the rest of the class on track? It was a sad situation that the school took great advantage of.

Some of the DI's would push anyone through the program to make the numbers look good. Hypocracy and chaos ruled the environment.
I would like to say that there were some good people involved with BCTI. Many of them jumped ship as soon as an opportunity presented itself. Tony Curry, if you read this, you know who this is: so... KISSES! lol

There were other good people who cared also, so for students reading this, know that some of us were there for the RIGHT reasons all along, until the right reasons made us very unpopular with our higher-ups. If any of you read this and remember my hotmail address, feel free to write.

BCTI, you knew it was coming and you hurt a lot of people. Shame, shame, to say the least. I hope all of the students that were victims of BCTI go out and make a difference in their lives just to spit in the eyes of those at BCTI who chose to get rich off of the misfortune of others.

Old Student

AUTHOR: Josh - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 28, 2007

I was a student of BCTI in 2001. I was homeless and living on the streets. One night while trying to find some good card board in the dumpster behind the school in Beaverton I found many files containing the names. addressess, and social security numbers of my teachers and some of the students who were still working at and attending BCTI in Beaverton. I showed the files to the people to which they belonged (by name) and when they asked about it they were told that the files were old and just being pushed out to make room for newer files. I think that it was because of this that maybe just maybe they had to push plans to close the school as they did back a few years. I would like to know what really happened.

#9 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Disgruntled and Deeply Apologetic...

AUTHOR: Sanau - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, December 11, 2006

I am a former employee of BCTI. I was employed there with the title of a "recruiting specialist". My only duty was to call the potential students, and pester them until they finally got tired of us calling their homes, and agreed to come in and have a tour of the school(s). My job was to convince them that they needed to get an education and better themselves.

During my first week, I attended an annual celebration, held for all BCTI employees. I sat there, thinking about how much money was wasted on Tom and Morrie standing on stage telling us all how great the two of them were. I felt as if something was terribly wrong with that company. When I was told that I would lose my job if I didn't get at least 12 people into the school for a tour, I asked my supervisor," If this is such a good school, why do we have to beg people to come and check it out?" I can't remember her exact reply, but I know it was one that didn't satisfy my curiosity.

When it ended, not only was I denied unemployment, but I heard tons of heartbreaking stories from my old co-workers. My reason for this rebuttal, is, I feel terrible for having any part in bringing innocent people into the situation, and I would like to see Mr. Piggot and Mr. Jonez brought to justice. I would like to say that I apologize to anyone that I convinced to enroll at BCTI, and I had no idea that I was working for such selfish and heartless people.

BINGO!!! We have a Winner!

AUTHOR: Jon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 11, 2005

Tony,

That's exactly what I'm saying!

I apologize like I'm sound like I'm making fun at them. But I want these students to completely stop blaming outside factors and start worrying about what they can do to change. All these stories we have heard are sad, but bottom line is, none of them were forced to be attending school. Think of the Career Consultants like those Used Car Salespeople...they will do/say anything to sell their product fast especially if they're commission based and that's how they keep their jobs. That's how you ended up with the Overpromise/Underdeliver speech. So, instead of conquering the "world", you got "hell" instead. If something sounds too good to be true, it could just that...explore and research.

I'm pissed off sometimes 'cause you hear these:

I hate BCTI because I didn't get a job or I didn't learn anything! BUT I loved the Instructors there. Those were some good teachers. I look at that and say huh? Figure out why I say "HUH?"

#7 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Surprised and a bit speechless

AUTHOR: Tony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 10, 2005

I admit I'm also a bit surprised by those who had or are having problems finding employment because of BCTI.

My surprise is not because I believe they should have found further employment easily with BCTI on their resume. I'm surprised because those individuals were interviewed by people who KNEW about the BCTI scandal.

My guess is these individuals are obviously continuing their employment in the education field. As for me I decided to go back to the technical and marketing field. Nobody I interviewed with knew anything about BCTI.

To those who are having trouble finding employment don't think the problem is having BCTI on your resume. Keep the faith. Keep putting resumes out there. In today's job market you need to submit at least 5 - 10 resumes a day for jobs you are qualified and experienced to do.

During the interview if the interviewer knows about BCTI, be honest about your involvement and WORK EXPERIENCE gained while working there. Turn the negative into a positive. A good recruiter once told me, "If you make it a problem, it will be".

Last but not least. Jon try to be compassionate to those less fortunate than yourself. Instead of putting down or laughing at those here, show them that some employees did have THEIR best interests at heart.

Many versions of what "Let it Go" means

AUTHOR: Jon - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 09, 2005

1) Ok, I post on this website because this site because this site is funny. It sometimes make my day interesting. Why? Well, you get these Ex-students from 10+ years back saying "Oh yeah, I did get screwed. Hmm...maybe I should join some class action lawsuit." So that's rigth there is funny as hell.
2) You get see all these bitter Ex-Employees posting like BCTI took their money.
3) Ex-Employees are blaming BCTI for making their job search more difficult. How do think ex-Enron employees feel? That interests me.
4) I love watch an ex-employee make heroic comments about BCTI's illegal operations. And is being hailed as a "hero". But this is the same person who occassionally calls students stupid during staff conversation and then waste class time by playing board games and lots of hangman. If you are reading these you know I'm talking about you.

By the way, I've look around this site as well and saw some other educational institutions getting ripped too. But it isn't as funny as this one. In fact, why don't read some of those posts...it's not the same. Ok...keep me entertain guys.

Lastly, I never had an issue about putting BCTI my resume. In fact, I got offered two jobs at the same time. So, that right there puzzles me.

I gotta admit though, it's kinda embarassing to wear that awesome fleece jacket that has a BCTI logo on it. Gotta work on getting that patched up...it does look nice.

A Dear Jon Letter

AUTHOR: Mel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 08, 2005

I find it quite odd that someone would say "Hey let it go" when that same person is still obviously hawking the RipOff Report site for information on good old BCTI. I ask: "Logically speaking: Does that not mean that you, as well, have not let go? Perhaps you are on another side of the situation and pretending not to be, but whatever the case is, you are obviously still interested enough to read our comments.
BCTI has been closed for a year, but that does not mean that their offenses do not have lingering effects for former employees as well as the students. For instance, I have had to over explain my relationship with BCTI in every interview I have been on since their very public closure. New employers or potential employers want to know if I have compromised ethics for being involved with a company that was cut from a less than moral fabric. So to say that oh, it was a year ago, is just a ludacrous reason to "get over it". The effects are many and far-reaching.

Jon who are you really

AUTHOR: Tony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, December 08, 2005

Jon,

There is another Jon who has said in another message thread that you are impersonating him. Are you really an ex employee?

I commend you for being able to let go of your experiences encountered while working for BCTI. For some this site is a source to vent their frustration and to discuss their personal experiences.

For me it allows me to help ex students to find answers to their frustrated questions.

May I suggest something Jon?

Contribute something positive in your messages, otherwise you sound like an ex-employee still in bed with BCTI.

Best of luck to you

Tony Curry Lives --- So does imjesagirl

AUTHOR: Mel - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 06, 2005

Well Tony,

I am so glad to see your response here after all this time. It seems as though BCTI has left for than just a couple injured in their wake. I found myself applauding recently when I noticed the BCTI signage was finally removed from the Tacoma location.
As for your remarks about the unemployment scam BCTI tried to run on you, I have been informed that they ran it on many individuals. They even tried to bar my future employment within the education industry. As you know, I was able to gain employment in the field, but only after I sent a signed statement about the events that happened at the Lacey campus where the state was investigating a situation. Can you say black mail? That is what it felt like, but what could I do at that point? I wrote a vague statement and would not compromise myself beyond that. I was harshly criticized by Don and who knows how many others.
Sadly, the place where you last saw me, is no longer in business either. The military deployments and student refunds made it impossible for us to continue, but I will proudly say I stayed on with the ship until it went down and then I helped carry the equipment out the door with not even a paycheck in my hand. But I did so because I knew the difference between a good school and a bad one. BCTI foresaked the good people and they turned people into rats. We can hold our heads high on that account that we did not remain in their shoddy little rat race, once we recognized it for what it was.
I continue to spread the word to students when I meet them on the street that they should look into relief of their student loans. I hope you still do the same. There were also some postings on the bymeldesigns site.

I know many may not associate the name imjesagirl with Melanie, but here's my chance for them to hear what I have to say. BCTI: "shame on you" just doesn't cover it. You hurt good people and I can only say good riddance!

The Return of Tony Curry (Former Director of Career Services Tacoma)

AUTHOR: Former - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 04, 2005

How could I forget you. Other than my wife you were first person I confided in once I realized what was going on at BCTI. Once I began writing on this website things began to unwrap. I quickly realized whom I could trust.

Stacy "ratted" me out by telling the V.P.s and owners of my intentions to go to newspapers, ACCET, and federal agencies (This is why I was abruptly terminated). Penny lied in a statement to Unemployment saying I would disappear for hours off campus (Do you remember how it was Rex who would disappear off campus for hours?) Don said false things about me as well to unemployment.

In all of that I was pleased Tricia did not fabricate information about me to deny my unemployment in 2004. That would have hurt me, I idolized her. She was the reason I decided to accept an offer of employment from BCTI. A simple statement she made to me allowed me to realize I couldn't simply leave BCTI without talking to the authorities and the news. The funny thing about it is, that statement she made was during the "incident" with the note. Do you remember? She said, "Tony you are a good man I trust you". When she said that I knew then I couldn't simply quietly leave BCTI without fighting for the students somehow.

Sometimes I laugh about how all of this came about from Jonathan Trice who just wanted to show me what a student wrote on this website.

You were a great instructor and a good friend. I should pick up the phone sometime and catch up with you. (If you are still where I think you are I'll call)

You and a few instructors truly cared for your students. You loved them because you wanted to make a difference in their lives. It's a pity M. that those above our heads only were thinking of themselves.
