Best Buy warranty is the biggest rip off. We purchased a computer 18 months ago, on the warranty it said if you have to have the computer looked at more than 3 times they would replace it. Biggest load of BS I ever heard. Our computer went back to best buy to be fixed then we have had the geek squad out twice. GUESS WHAT!!! they still have not replaced the computer. DONT EVER BUY WARRANTY, and if you have any sense dont buy anything from Best Buy

Computer PSP requirements

I would just like to clarify that there is a no-lemon policy in all of Best Buy's PSP's - they it works is like this, and no it DOES NOT have to be for the same part, it is actually quite flexible. If the computer has had to have been serviced (which usually means sent to service) more than three times and a fourth time something goes wrong with it, you will get price you paid minus rebates towards a new item. Now, it can be the same problem like a motherboard, or the motherboard twice, the keyboard once, and the speakers cracklin another. However, consumable and exterior parts do not count, like if you got a new battery or power adapter. Having the Geek Squad come out to your house was a smart move, they know what they're doing, however that does not count towards the no lemon policy.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Read the contract

AUTHOR: Sarah - (U.S.A.)

Were all the problems for the same part? I believe their 3 fixes and you get a new computer is only if they have to fix the same part 3 times. I just got a new computer from "Best" Buy through the warranty because they had to replace the motherboard 3 times and it died again. I was lucky because they were able to look up the original purchase since I couldn't find the receipt and the previous work orders since I also didn't have all of them. My husband has also gotten a PDA and an Ipod replaced through their warranty. Sometimes it really depends on who you talk to there...some employees don't care and will replace it for you and some just seem to be stricter when it comes to meeting their replacement guidelines. So here are my suggestions.

1. Keep your receipt in a safe place where you will remember where it is. I suggest making a copy of it too as I have found that the ink used to print the receipts seems to fade.

2. Keep all the work orders for your computer. The repairs all have to be for the same part for the replacement warranty to be used.

3. You have to spend the full amount on a new computer or kiss the extra money goodbye. That's not always easy. They didn't have the computer we picked to replace ours or any of the other ones that even came close to the money we needed to spend. They called another BB and they did have the computer we wanted so my husband went and picked it up there. Then you need to come up with the $ for the warranty again for the new computer..if you choose to buy it again.

I don't like BB and some of their more anal employees and will only go to their stores to service items previously bought there.
