2 yesra ago i purchased an XM radio for my car 89.95.i was advised by the sales person to purchase the warrenty for 29.95.this covers repair or replacement if the unit fails for up to 4 years.well it failed after two years,i went back to best buys and was told the unit was not able to be serviced so they will replace it.now the store no longer had the unit so i had to get what they had,a 46.00 unit or a 184.00 unit.if i choose the higher price one i would have to pay the difference if i choose the lower price one i WOULD NOT get the difference,oh and the warrenty does not carry over.i asked for a complete refund as they could not provide me with the unit i originally had.all they will do is a store credit for the 89.95.i spoke to the manager with no success.i explained that if the unit was no longer available that i should be entitled to a full refund as they are unable to replace my unit with the one i originally purchased.i had to take a store credit for 89.95.TOTAL SCAM!!!and im beat for the 29.95 b/s warrenty!!the total refund would be a lousy 127.00.

Brad please stop poisoning the human gene pool. Best Buy gave you what every customer with the PSP wants: a new unit. Just because Best Buy did not carry a unit you liked does not mean they're scamming you. Let's say theoretically that you did not buy the PSP and the unit broke down after 2 years. Mind you, the manufacturer's warranty only covers you for 1 year. What would have happened then? You would have been s**t out of luck is what would have happened. The PSP is there to cover for the broken unit that Best Buy did not deem economically wise to repair or they did not have the parts for so they decided to replace it for you with a unit that is EQUAL to (not more or less) than the value of your unit. If you buy a cheaper unit, then they are not obliged in any way to refund the difference because it's not their fault you want a cheaper unit. If you want a more expensive unit, then it's only reasonable that you pay the difference. The $30 you "lost" is considered as the money you paid for that piece of mind insurance that should anything happen to your unit during the PSP's lifetime, that Best Buy would cover it. You basically got the best of what the PSP could cover so stop your bitching and moaning.

In the warranty you purchased it does state that if the product is no longer carried you will receive the value you paid for it in a store credit or if you chose something of lesser value you will not receive your money back. The warranties are placed throughout the department with all of the information. Anytime you purchase anything it is a good idea to read all about it before you make the purchase. Just because you do not agree with the service plan you purchased does not mean you were ripped off. It was written in black and white you just did not read it. They did give you the money back for the item you purchased, just as the warranty states.
