Last year I Joined the Columbia House DVD club. Boy was that a wrong move!.Some of the DVD's I attempted to order have been in the wrong format, even though I specifically picked the right box for Full Screen, they would send me widescreen despite my request for fullscreen.

They did not leave a telephone number to contact them on the internet and from the data I have collected on Columbia House so far, it would be futile. As an unsatisfied customer I legally withheld business from them.

My so called obligation time ran out in Oct 2006 and they automatically billed my credit card for 2 more movies without my permission. I disputed it with
American Express and they concurred with the dispute. They began to threaten me with filing a discrepancy against my credit rating with some National Credit Institute. Check you credit rating everyone!!!

After attempting to communicate with them on the internet, all I recieved was some form of automated bullshit about my oweing them money anyway.
June of 2007 I received a notice from a collection agency for 21.95.

Today I pulled 41 Ripoff reports about this company and counting my complaint it will be 42 over a period of 4 years. Maybe it is time for a class action suit against this type of behavior.

A. File complaints with your local agencies--people.
B. Contact their advertising agencies and send them the rip-off reports.

The Gorilla marketing tatics are unacceptable. Anyone associated with this company may not want to do business with them in the future if they are made aware of all these Rip-Off complaints.

Part of your "contract"

AUTHOR: Don - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 26, 2007

When you sign up with Columbia House, by receiving the first set of DVD's, you agree to a contract. Part of that contract says that you agree to purchase a number of DVD's at regular price. If you have not ordered your DVD's in a timely fashion (As some who has collected on Columbia House accounts, I have seen as long as 2 years), Columbia House puts the equivalent to how many DVD's are left into collections. When it is paid to the collection agency, they report back to Columbia House it is paid. Columbia House send you vouchers and a catalog for the remaining movies.

In terms of the bad customer service, call the number and proceed through their automated system like you want to set up a new account. Once you get an operator, let them know the real reason for your call, and they will transfer you.
