The following is a true life experience of purchasing a new Nissan Rogue from David McDavid Nissan.  Please read this before your make the same mistake!

Company Information

David McDavid Nissan is located in the metro Houston area, at 11911 Gulf Freeway. This horrible dealership sells new and used Nissan automobiles.  They have a website that is at http://www.mcdavidnissan.com   According to their website they currently have approximately 416 new cars and 130 used cars for sale on their lot.

Buying a Car at David McDavid Nissan - Deceptive Trade

At first glance, David McDavid Nissan appears to be a great automobile dealership with exceptional deals on new and pre-owned vehicles. The first thing you will find on their website when viewing automobiles is what they call "David McDavid Eprice".  The following is a typical listing of one of their automobiles.

McDavid ePrice:$46,968

This is where the lying (deceptive trade starts).  What they are not telling their potential customers is that when you arrive at the dealership you will discover that all of their cars include a high price list of dealer 'add-ons' that will add an additional $1,100 to $1,400 dollars to their so called Eprice. There is nothing on their web site that mentions their bogus add-ons, but to attempt to swindle you with our recourse,  they use the following disclaimer on all of their vehicle listing pages:
While every reasonable effort is made to ensure the accuracy of this information, we are not responsible for any errors or omissions contained on these pages. Please verify any information in question with David McDavid Nissan.
The following are two  Emails from the Internet Sales Manager.  It is important to consider that she did not mention the add-ons in her first Email and phone call.  She sent the second Email afer I called her back and directly questioned her about all of thier vehicles being sold with dealer add-ons.

The Plot Thickens

Just for fun and I could not resist hearing some more nonsense, I called the parts department and spoke with a parts clerk by the name of Aaron.  When I inquired about buying wheel locks for this quoted vehicle, I was given a regular retail price of $63.00  (interesting to consider that Nissan USA sells them for $49.00)

Appalled I decided to call their service department to find out how much they charged for the EPP, pin-striping and window etching.  I am not shocked to have learned that they subcontract out the window etching and pin-striping as a package deal for $239.00   What does shock me, is that both the parts and service departments could tell me nothing about the EPP.  The best answer I received was from one of their service advisors (Kieth) who informed me that their make-ready department was in charge of applying the treatment (paint and interior protectants) and that only the sales department could tell me anything about it because the make-ready department had nothing to do with the service department.  Would it surprise anyone if I told you now that the Service Manager, Mr. William Crighton, manages the make-ready department at David McDavid Nissan.

However, accepting Kieth's advice, I contacted the Internet Sales Manager, Bianca Fernandez and asked her to tell me about the EPP add-on they charge everyone of their customers for.  She told me that it was a service department issue, but to her understanding the EPP was done at the factory prior to new vehicles being shipped to the dealership.  Doing a little more research, that is, buying a case of Budweiser for a certain make-ready employee, I discovered that EPP is him and other employees waxing their vehicles with a banana wax product.  The interior protectant is done by the people who supply the fabric to Nissan pre-assembly of the vehicles.

The end result, the so-called dealer add-ons that they ended up charging me $1,100 dollars for, came down to my paying for a set of wheel locks and car wash for my new Nissan Rogue.  As of writing this blog, I have yet to receive my pin-stripping and window etching.  I know that some of you reading this blog are asking yourself, why did he pay for the add-ons?  The simple answer is, they will not sell you a car without the add-on's if you want their Eprice.

The Real Screwing Ends in the Finance Office

Yes Virgina there is a Santa Claus but he sure does not work at David McDavid Nissan.  I am hear to tell you folks, never deal with a quiet type dude in the finance office.  These personality types are usually the biggest crooks you will ever run in to.  But enough about that opinion, the first bomb that my finance guy dropped on me, was the old scam that your credit tier level is higher than it actually is.  But my quiet finance officer assured me that he could obtain tier level 7 financing for me, even though Nissan Motors Acceptance Corporation wanted to approve me at tier 9 (16.9% interest).  The fact that I am at a tier level 3 credit rating, was never mentioned nor the fact that NMAC actually had approved me at tier 3 (6.9% interest).  For all of you who may not understand this, regardless of what I was approved by NMAC for, what I actually signed is what I am responsible for paying.  NMAC after three months of on time paying, sends David McDavid Nissan a nice check for the additional 10 points (10% interest) they would collect over the term of the loan.  This quiet dudes first attempt to stiff me was for the tune of $8,346.51.

After we got past him trying to make points on the loan, we them moved to the paperwork.  What a surprise it was to not find the so-called add-ons itemized, per Texas law, on the purchase agreement, we-owe form and retail installment contract.  Why did they not itemize the add-ons?  Think of it this way folks, these people are crooks but not stupid.  Itemizing bogus add-ons could come back to haunt them with criminal charges of fraud.  Additionally, an arbitration agreement was included in their paperwork.  For anyone who does not understand arbitration, please understand that when you sign an arbitration agreement you give up your right to sue someone.  You must pay thier arbitration company (in McDavids case, $200.00) to end up in front of an arbitrator that relies on McDavid for his paycheck.  The chances of prevailing against McDavid for all their scumbag activities are about the same as winning the Powerball lotery.  There is no appeal and the courts will not interfere.

I was also surprised that when I later checked all the copies of the paperwork he gave me copies of, numerous copies as prescribed by law were not given to me.  For instance, I was not given a copy of a form they use to keep the rebate money from Nissan.  Nor, was I given a copy of the purchase order.  (You think that was by accident? lol) Shamefully, I did not find it shocking at all when I discovered that these slick bastards got me to sign a blank rebate form and later filled it in for $1,500, which was the actual rebate on the vehicle I purchased.

Delivery of the Vehicle

Here is your keys and my business card.  Seriously, that was the whole delivery of my vehicle.  Though, the salesman did thank me for allowing him and David McDavid Nissan to rip me off.

Summary

I cannot say that David McDavid Nissan is the first automobile dealer who tried and partially succeeded in sticking a car up my posterior sideways, but I will say that David McDavid is the most blatant scumbag dealers I have ever ran in to.  These people stick it in deep into you, right in front of your nose and smile at you the whole time they are doing it.   There is no lie too outlandish for this group of merry scumbags.  Do yourself a favor and run from these criminals like they are pointing a gun at you demanding your money.  When all is said and done, just like armed robbers who will steal your money, the end result of dealing with David McDavid Nissan will leave you just as broke!

Doing the right thing

AUTHOR: sixsigma@earthlink.net - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 03, 2013

My huband met with epresentatives of David McDavid Nissan this morning at their dealership.  They agree that there were some misunderstandings in our transaction.  In retrospect, I may of over reacted to the situation and misunderstood some things.  They claim that they are going to install the add-ons we paid for.  We are hoping that they will do so.  My husband tells me that they were very forthright and seemed to be genuinely concerned about our ultimate satisfaction with the purchase.

Buyers Remorse?

AUTHOR: sixsigma@earthlink.net - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 02, 2013
(You noticed right away there were discrepancies.)  You are absolutely right.  However, I have never bought a vehicle anywhere that the dealer did not try to take advantage of me.   From my previous experiances in buying cars, my transactions with McDavid was auto-business as usual.

(At that point, anybody with common sense and a backbone would get up and walk out.  Instead, you sat there and eventually rewarded them for screwing you over.) I partially agree with you.  I really wanted the vehicle and though in retrospect I would of been smarter to walk away, my desire to buy the car trumped my common sense.

( Looks like buyer's remorse to me!)  I do not have any remorse over buying the vehicle.  My remorse comes from not getting what I paid for.
