I purchased a one way ticket from West Palm Beach FL. To Manila Philippines from Delta on Oct. 3rd 2012 from Delta's Internet for $800.70.
When I arrived for my 8AM flight from PBI on Nov. 5th. I was told by the Delta ticketing agent that the one way ticket was invalid for an international flight. She added that when I would arrive at the airport in Manila that customs would not let me into the country without a return ticket.
At that point I wondered why I was not advised of this fact upon my initial purchase? They just e-mailed me my ticket & promptly charged my credit card for the $800.70! The agent then asked me If I wanted to go ahead & purchase the round trip ticket. Of course I was in a bind, so I said yes. She than printed me a new ticket for $1398.00. I advised her that I had paid the $800.70 a few weeks earlier. She said no problem & tht this is for a new ticket & I did not have to worry & that I would receive the proper credit on my Visa Card.
When I received my CC. statement there was the initial charge of $800.70. I went ahead & paid my CC bill nievely assuming that I would receive the difference on my next CC pay period. ( $597.30).
To my dismay when I received the next billing, my CC reflected a charge of $897.30. I was totally surprised and outraged! I proceded to call Delta & spoke to 3 different "SUPERVISORS". After 45 minutes of verbal agony, I was told by the 3rd superviser that I was charged a $300.00 penality for changing my ticket. I kindly asked them if they would abate the charge because I was not told about the "Faulty Purchase" by the internet agent + the Ticketing agent did not advise me of the penalty the day of my flight.
With that being said, they suggested that I call Delta Corporate in Atlanta. I called the following buisness day & some "Big Wheel Clown" told me that the charge was ligit. I proceeded to tell him that it was outright deception on Delta's behalf & that they should be ashamed of "Ripping Off" people in that "Shady" manner. I told him I would not fly Delta again & "Hung-Up' on him.
I now am trying to get my CC company involved to try & resolve this issue & get My $300.00 back!
GOOD LUCK WITH THAT, RIGHT?

Fraud?

If you want to accuse anyone of fraud or a RipOff you need to go after your Travel Agent. Oh wait...you acted as your own Travel Agent.
When you act as your own Travel Agent, YOU are responsible for knowing any and all immigration/customs/visa regulations for the countries you are visiting.
The same goes for the Change Fee, this was in the terms of your ticket(yes all of that "fine print" matters).
So good luck with your Credit Card dispute but don't expect any credit, and if you even get a single dollar back consider yourself very lucky.
