Based on my experiences I would advise anyone to stay away from Express Consolidation, Inc. for help in paying off credit cards.

They hold the first month's payment which is supposed to be refunded when your cards are paid off. After 3 months in which the credit card companies were charging more interest than the payments made, I refinanced our mortgage and included the
credit card debt. The credit card companies were paid off in full.

Express Consolidations refused to refund my first payment because I didn't pay off the companies through them. They wanted $500 more as a payoff amount than paying the companies directly as I did.

Whenever I called they switched me from one person to another. Each told me in a patronizing tone that I hadn't followed the rules and was not entitled to a refund.

I filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's consumer complaint dept. Express Consolidations had a good rating from the BBB so it shows that this is useless.

I did receive a refund through the efforts of the attorney general. Everyone should take advantage of this service as it's your tax dollars at work.

Rebuttal to complaint of Larry in South Euclid, Ohio

AUTHOR: Randall - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 07, 2002

Express Consolidation is a non-profit credit counseling agency that helps thousands of people manage their debt.

Larry received a refund because we felt it was the right thing to do, and not because of anything done by the Ohio Attorney General's office. We never even heard from them.

Our good rating with the BBB is just that; a good rating. As a non-profit corporation, we do not even belong to the BBB.

When someone like Larry receives a refund and still bad mouths the company that tried to help him, and then gave his money back, I think that says a lot about Larry.

We are happy to assist anyone who needs our assistance. Even people like Larry deserve help when they are in dire straits. We can give that help, even if Larry didn't like the service in his case. There are always disgruntled customers.

Thanks for letting us have this rebuttal.
