This company contacted me today while I was at home. They said they received my information off of Realtor.com and "You're very pretty" is what "Sales Manager" Mary said.

They stated they were calling from a company that produces emergency contact info magnet cards and that they are contracted with the local fire department to make these cards and would I like to sponsor ad space for one of six spots available? The cards would be distributed by the City of Henderson, NV fire department during their safety training done in schools, parades, etc...

The funny thing is, I live in Las Vegas, NV, not Henderson, NV, but I do work in that area. They pressed me to act quickly as there were many Realtors in the area and they decided to contact me because I had a picture that was pleasing to the eye. My last name starts with W, so I knew I wasn't the first person they contacted.

I told her I had to make a quick phone call to make sure I could afford the advertisement, and I looked up City of Henderson's information for their fire department's administrative office. They told me they have NO contract for emergency fridge magnets with any company.

Meanwhile, I also quickly googled their company name and "Scam" after it, and found this ripoff report. Any good company would know that you do not defame the character of a past employee without a lawsuit pending quickly afterwards. I have never heard of Firehouse Promotions, Inc., and I wouldn't trust any company whose primary email is at yahoo.com! Please don't fall for this. They wanted $600 for a nonexistent product.

When I asked them to fax me a copy of the contract they had with City of Henderson, they said that they couldn't do that for someone that wasn't a client. I asked for their contact over at the Fire Department, as I had already called the number that handles public safety, she said she would call me back and never did!

Don't fall for their scam. It's really a shame some company would try to do this. I have no idea how they sleep at night. The average Realtor's annual income is $30-40K - we are not rich people, I'm a mother and a wife who happens to love to help people find homes. I'm sincere and honest and would hate to see someone else waste their hard earned money on this scheme.

Number one we do infact have a signed contract with the Henderson Fire Department in Henderson, NV. It was signed by their Public Education Officer Kathryn Hooper. The second issue of the report involving the fact that her last name starts with W so she was not the first person contact. We tell our sales people to start at the end of the alphabet occasionally because they are not called as much. As when you start from a you are more than likely going to find an advertiser prior to L. We DO NOT SCAM PEOPLE. Every ad that is sold by our company is produced and provided to the fire department and the advertisers as that is our obligation. I personally over see all of the production and also personally print and attach the labels to the packages. I am also a mother and am trying my best to run a repspectable company. Which with websites such as this which are free and also do not do any checking on any claim that is posted is rather exausting. This person did not purchase anything and no harm was done to her but her assumptions are surely not real good for me. I hope she teaches her children not to jump to conclusions as she does that sure won't make for a great childhood. Also any potential client that requests to see a signed contract from the fire department is within minutes provided with that information.

My wife was also contacted by Firehouse Promotions

AUTHOR: Vincent S - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 22, 2008

My wife is a new realtor in the Columbus, OH area and received a phone call from this company today. A woman who said "they wanted an attractive young woman" like my wife to be in the ad section of their Emergency magnets.

Now, I am an advocate for such services and have many friends and some some relatives who are Fire Fighters, so I would be willing to support such a cause. I told my wife that depending on the cost, it seems like something that would be a good idea to be a part of. And I'm glad I found this information online.

What concerned me first was that the company was based in Illinois. Not to say that marketing isn't done outside of Ohio, but it brought up some flags to see who the company might be. After a quick Google search, I was at their meager company website. I say meager because it has very little information about the cost of advertising and for a company based in western Illinois and looking to advertise in Columbus, OH, it would seem that one might have more samples or literature available for review by potential clients.

Of course, the rip-off report that also showed up in the report was alarming. There is another report that the company claimed was filed by a disgruntled ex-employee seemed legit, but this report had all the familiar symptoms of what my wife experienced.

I called the Columbus Division of Fire's Community Relations office (614-645-7377) and the person I spoke with hadn't heard of the company and then went to check with one of the lieutenants to see if they knew of the company. She came back to tell me that the lieutenant had heard of the company but that they had no affiliations or contracts with Columbus Division of Fire.

My wife and I will not be doing business with this company and recommend that no one else in the Columbus area do either.

Thanks Denise and thanks to Rip-off Report for saving us the hassle!
