Talk about this loophole that Geico uses to their full advantage to rip people off. According to Geico they cover glass under comprehensive in their policies. What does that mean? That means if your windshield breaks and you put in a claim and your deductable is $500, that means your paying out of pocket because Geico will say their policy says they will cover anything over that. So Geico says they cover glass, but in reality they do not. When I was on the phone with them putting in a claim, I was told that I had to pay for it myself since my deductable was higher than the value of the glass. I was also told to go ahead and file against them for they were not doing anything illegal. Why would they point out that they were not doing anything illegal? Because they know that they are pulling a scam because of loopholes in the wording in their contracts. So if you have Geico and you think you have glass coverage, think again. You will be paying out of pocket to get that windshield fix, and Geico will be laughing all the way to the bank.

"What" your totally wrong.

To say that everyone knows that windshield coverage is always filed under Comprehensive is totally Wrong.
I had 9 windshields completely replaced by Liberty Mutual over a 12 year period and didn't pay a dime, and I had a $500 deductible on my comprehensive. Because Liberty Mutual treats window repair/replacement totally separate from comprehensive coverage.

Totally True!

Chris is right. My wife had the rear glass shot out of her 2003 Yukon and Geico wouldn't help as they "have no glass specific deductibles". The rear window cost me $875 on the spot as my standing deductible was $1000......DUMPED Geico immediately after.

Deductible

Okay, let me start by saying I absolutely HATE GEICO. buttt, the glass is covered under comprehensive if it cant be repaired. so you need to pay your deductible, GEICO doesn't care about their customers so they never suggest low comp. deductibles (AS a nationwide agent I always tell people to carry $100 or less for their comp deductible) if its repairable most companies will do it for free.

What?

So let me get this straight, you were ripped off because you didn't know that your Comprehensive coverage has a deductible??? That's on you. Everyone and his great grandmother knows that glass in covered under your Comprehensive coverage, and has a deductible.
All you had to do tell GEICO that you wanted a low deductible. Stop blaming other people for your own stupidity.

Are you saying they are violating the terms of your WRITTEN policy with them?
They are NOT.
You have the deductible to keep your premiums a little lower. A bunch of small insurance claims are costly to the insurer.
See if you can get full (non-deductible) coverage and check the price difference.
You have NOT, in any way, been Ripped Off.
" I was also told to go ahead and file against them for they were not doing anything illegal. Why would they point out that they were not doing anything illegal? It's NOT a scam or a loophole, If you don't believe it, file a claim with your state's insurance commissioneer....he could use a good laugh.
The reason they pointed out "they weren't doing anything illegal" has an obvious answer...they WEREN'T doing anything Illegal. It's not a conspiracy. You're dead wrong and won't own up to it.
