I received an email that stated up to a 10% discount off my premiums if I take a defensive driving course online and be at least 50 years of age+. I called and talked to a customer service rep who told me I only qualify for a 2 1/4 % discount by taking the course. I ask why only 2 1/4% and not 10%. She told me there are different parameters for the 10% and I didn't qualify. I asked how can I qualify in the future? She couldn't answer the question. It doesnt state any where in the the link above about certain parameters in order to reach the 10% discount. This is misleading information and should be at least rewritten so the consumer clearly understands the parameteres on the discount program. Very misleading!

The Part of the Report Where It Says Up To

You can get UP TO 10%. You got 2.25%, which is between 0% and 10%. It does not say 'guaranteed' 10% discount. It does not say "a 10% discount". If it were guaranteed or in absolute terms, then you would receive 10%. There is nothing misleading about the advertising. It says exactly what you received. If you do not meet their qualifications for a 10% discount, then you are not entitled to a 10% discount.
The question is whether you understand what it means when it says you can get up to a 10% discount. I mean that's pretty clear simple English, but maybe you don't understand what "up to" means? Perhaps you feel entitled to a 10% discount? Doesn't work that way.
