Product: General Electric Radiant Self Cleaning Smooth Top Range
Model: JB968THWW
Purchase date: June / 2005
Cost: $1510.00

Problem:
The top front burner which is adjustable for a small or large pan, and also the one burner that is used more than the others, has turned a gray color.
I have followed instructions to the letter, by using the suggested cleaner and cleaning method, used appropriate cookware which is flat bottom stainless.

I have notified them with several phone calls and 2 letters about the problem. Nothing has been done to fix the problem. Why? Because they aren't intelligent enough to know how to resolve the problem and they don't care. They have told me that there is nothing they can do to resolve the problem. They want me to pay for half of the cooktop price and they will send me another one. This was already done under warranty once.

Why should I have to put up with the smart ellick service man they send each time, knowing that it is just going to turn gray again. I AM NOT going to give G.E. one red cent toward another cooktop replacement, nor ever, ever purchase a G.E. product again, even if it is just a can opener.

It doesn't take a genius to know you can't put a white glass top on a stove and in any way, shape or form, keep it new looking. My mistake was to trust that G.E. would have thought of this, when they designed it. They do make a black one to fit my stove. The problem with this is there is not one black part on the rest of the stove and it looked really ugly on it. So buyers, beware when you buy General Electric products, because obviously if there is problem, you may be stuck with your piece of junk!!!

I happened to have a white cooktop and it ha started to turn. My service man was an absolute proffesional. He replaced and told me that it would happen again with time. I told him i understood that white would not hold up to pans being slid ever so slightly and high heat. So i suppose it should been taken into consideration when it was bought in the first place.
