Complaint Review: GE - Nationwide
We own a GE Dryer model GTDP490ED2WS, which we purchased on 1/26/2014. We recently noticed a lot of lint on our driveway below the dryer vent on my house. We have never seen so much lint on our driveway and we've lived here for over 40 years! After sweeping away the lint, we had to clean out the dryer vent on the outside of our house because it was stuck in the open position due to a large accumulation of lint. After cleaning the vent, we cleaned a lot more lint out of the dryer itself and the duct tube going from the dryer to the outside vent. This shouldn't be happening! The lint trap in the dryer should be catching this lint! Upon further inspection we determined that the lint trap has large gaps and spaces around it's edges that allow large quantities of lint to completely bypass the lint trap/filter and get inside the dryer clogging the duct work! This is incredibly poor design! It creates a fire
hazard and a carbon monoxide danger for gas dryers! Had we known about this problem before hand, we would not have purchased this defective, poorly designed and dangerous dryer! We have contacted GE numerous times and they blew us off, refusing to acknowledge the problem or do anything to help!
