HouseValues sucked me in with their promises of quality leads. The city I was supposed to get the leads from quickly dried up (they probably sold it to somebody else with the same promises) and I was inundated with bogus "leads" --- they were from curious neighbors, kids, sellers already listed, buyers looking at FSBOs, appraisers, property managers, renters, other realtors, and people who just filled out the form to get it off their computer screen.

I spent hours trying to keep up with these things; when I complained, they told me it takes time -- sometimes up to a year. That's how they keep you paying the monthly fee -- by convincing you it WILL pay off. It won't. After 10 months of paying the fee and doing tons of CMA's (sometimes 7 or 8 a day) it has produced nothing. I am exhausted and completed disgusted. Please don't let them suck you in, too.

Do I have anything else to know about ?

AUTHOR: Petor - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, August 12, 2007

Hi folks.

I also curiously filled in a little form like the above did to learn about the value of my home and I haven't heard anything back yet, I'm writing this as I'm a little worried since I saw this seciton on the extensive list of supposed scams.

All I wanted to do know was the approximate value of my property.

HouseValues Sucks

AUTHOR: Garett - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 25, 2007

The consumer trying to get thier home's value will definitely not be pleased, as they believe they are going to plug in thier address and get an instant computer generated free home appraisal from housevalues. Instead, thier name was just sold to an agent for the purpose of the agent contacting you, or as housevalues encourages, a knock at thier door.

HouseValues fraudulently sell these leads to agents as people interested in selling thier home. Or homesellers. HouseValues fraudulently gets the consumer to believe they will receive a free home appraisal from housevalues. Luckily for the consumer, they don't have to pay for the privelege of being scammed, but the agent does.

Although inconvenient to both the agent and consumer, I believe the agent actually gets the shorter end of the stick, as they pay thousands of dollars to recieve nothing. The consumer recieves nothing also, but at least they don't pay. They are just a pawn in the housevalues shell game.

It's worse on the consumers side!

AUTHOR: Dennis - (U.S.A.)

We filled out their form and within hours had "multiple" agents trying to list our home. All we wanted was to know the value! None wanted to give us the value unless we listed with them. We got the info for free at another web site, no one got the listing. So all you agents out there House Values sold our info to a lot more than one agent! House Values is a scam on both sides of the fence, everyone needs to stay clear of them, they are true "Rip Off's"!
