Well how do I begin? After many years of inactivity, the thought came to me "Let's get back to your fighting weight. I drove to the local gym in my area "La Fitness" and took a look around. Nice place, friendly staff and pretty clean. Just the kind of atmosphere to get the "Old Metabolism" burning.
I signed up for the National Plan, meaning I could use it in any state that had a club, since at the time I was traveling alot. The months wore on and boredom set in. The gusto that I had in the beginning left out the front door and once again inactivity set in. The months past and the fat started creeping around my belly again. This time I would not succumb to it. I went back and the manager told me to sign up for a new membership that would save me money, since I was not traveling anymore. I thought, "Wow, these people are actually looking out for my best interest".
One day while talking to my accountant, who I should have fired earlier, says to me it looks as though you're being billed double for your gym membership. So we went back and discovered approx. $1000 in payments made for the old membership. I spoke with the corporate office and they told me they don't give refunds and I needed to speak with the local office (Sounds familiar). So I called the local office and they told me they would look into it. Well as the days went bye and nights grew colder, I gave the benefit of the doubt and called back. Still nothing, so I called the corporate office once more, again I stated to the very unprofessional women on the phone my situation. She stated that she would cancel my national membership. Approx. three months later and I'm still getting billed for two memberships!
Is there anyone out there that can help?

I wanted to state that I've read many comments regarding LA Fitness & Body of Change ( I think they're now called something else)and while I dont doubt the threads I must say they surprise me. I think we should stress that each LA Fitness, for better or worse, is run differently.
The club I was at did have its difficulties and some customers did complain, but i for one ( I worked at the front desk) made sure that if I couldnt take care of the problem, my boss (The Operations Manager) did. I valued our members and have been in customer service a long time. I must say, you should make sure to show up as many times a necessary and make sure to speak to the Operations Manager and/or the General Manager to get your issue resolved...oh and LA Fitness DOES offer refunds, but the local OM has to approve/request it.
Furthermore, I wanted to say that I am now a member at the club which I used to work. I am a satisfied customer and love going to work out in a friendly environment. As far as BODY OF CHANGE is concerned, I found a trainer that I LOVE and have gotten results, so I can't complain...but I made sure to do research, to watch and communicate with other members as to their experience. I know that delegation is a very common practice with the Managers, as they are the ones to "hook" you and then hand you off to whoever is available...I just make sure to schedule with my trainer a week in advance.
