Levitz Ripoff Bad Service Delivery Issues Elmhurst New York

My sister is a single mother, and as a result, she must work long hours to support herself and eight-year-old son. To make things a little easier on her, I purchased my nephew a bedroom set from Levitz for his new room. The items were delivered on the 21st of June, but the furniture was never assembled as promised. Instead, the delivery men left the many boxes downstairs on her kitchen floor, leaving a 5'4 woman and a 4' child to do THEIR job.

I called Levitz three different times with hopes of getting this problem fixed. The first two times, I was told I would receive a call back that same day with a time and date for the delivery men to assemble my furniture. I never heard from anyone. The third time, Alex, the customer service representative I was speaking to, said (amongst other rude and out-of-place things) that if it was so important to me, I should have called them immediately after the furniture was delivered. Who is Alex to tell me what I SHOULD have done? The fact of the matter is, upon making my purchase, I was told my furniture would be delivered and assembled for a fee, a fee that I paid, and I did not get that.

After five or so minutes of being disrespected by him, I spoke to his manager. She, too, was rude when she refused to acknowledge my complaint about Alex's behavior and, in so many words, called me a liar. (Apparently, the warehouse said leaving the furniture on the kitchen floor was a request.) I asked for the furniture to be assembled, and it wasn't. I asked for my delivery (which INCLUDED installation) fee to be reimbursed, and it wasn't. Basically, Levitz made a mistake and is refusing to fix it.
