McAfee Rebate Ripoff Beware - Rebate Fraud Ripoff Santa Clara California

Beware, if you buy McAfee virus software with a rebate you may be sorely disappointed.
My frustration in trying to collect the rebate promised with the purchase of my anti virus software closely parallels that of many other reports I have since read on the internet.
This experience has taught me not to buy McAfee again.

After closely reading the instructions, I sent in by registered mail, the rebate slip, claim form, original first page from Norton's 2004 manual, original UPC proof of purchase from the box top, and Fry's purchase receipt.
I received an emailed acknowledgement, then silence. There was no way to contact them by email so I spent hours on the phone trying to talk to a real person and was told my request was invalid as I had not sent in "EITHER the proof of purchase from the box or the purchase receipt". I guess they like to leave themselves some wiggle room on that. Anyway, that is exactly the same as many others have reported, and of course I cannot send in the original UPC from the box top again as they already have that.

As so many people have been defrauded like this I am now searching for a contact in the FTC to take this to. If anyone has knowledge in that direction which will help, please let me know with a post to this site. If you have a similar experience make a post too, because that is what the FTC looks for to take action.
I will post again on how this resolves.
