I recieved a call from an internet inquiry from the Mortgage Law group and was sold on what sounded like an opportunity to get expert advice and assistance on applying for a Mortgage Loan Modification. After 11 months I've had three representatives and no Mortgage Loan Modification.

I feel like a complete idiot and should have known better. Needless to say I have been unable to reach a live person, and to this day I have yet to get an update from Chris Mckay at the Law offices of Macy,Aleman and Searns on the status of my Mortgage Loan Modification. The reality is I have been taken for over $5100.

3rd party loan modifications

AUTHOR: Dave - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, February 24, 2012

You would have been better off contacting your lender directly than going through a 3rd party.
Basically you are paying someone a fee to fax documents for you.

3rd party agencies have no control over whether you will or will not qualify for a loan modification.  The programs offered by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have a certain set of criteria which will dictate if you qualify for a modification.  The same goes with non-invested (bank originated) loans.

I would hope if you do not qualify for a loan modification you would at least get some type of refund.  Keep in mind that although you are being reveiwed for a loan modification the legal process will ciontinue until the trial payment plan or modification is approved.

During the trial payment phase the foreclosure activity is suspended and would be cancelled after a modification is actually complete. A loan modification may also be done with a stipulation that if you ever become 60 days late the foreclosure action would start from the point it had been cancelled.

Thank you for posting that you had a positive resolution to your loan modification. I am currently in the same situation you were in regarding zero communication with Macey Aleman & Searns.

I have not been able to speak to my case manager or anyone else at the law firm. I have called every number I could find. I have emailed the previous, current and the main E-mail addresses I could for the law firm and have not received any reply from anyone since Dec. 16, 2011. That email was again asking for the exact documents I had faxed to the law firm 3 times before.

While I do understand with technology things may get misdirected, faxes phone calls and emails cannot all be going to the wrong place since law firm is who gave me the phone numbers, FAX numbers and email addresses that did work before.

I am currently speaking to a local law firm in an effort to get the loan modification done. I will continue to try to contact Macey Aleman & Searns through new phone numbers posted on this website since I have already paid over $3500.00 to them. I would like all my money back since they have done nothing but waste more time and put me closer to foreclosure.

If they were a reputable law firm it should not be this difficult to communicate with them.

After several attempts to reach The Mortgage Law group/The Law Office of Macy,Aleman & Searns I was able to speak to the managing Attorney  Mr Sibert who was able to update me on the progress of my Mortgage Loan Modification. Since I have a new contact and have been made aware of the process, I want to retract the derogatory statements I  made previously about the Mortgage  Law Group/The Law Office of Macy Aleman and Searns. I am completley satisfied in knowing that I was NOT ripped off and there ARE professionals who are genuinely trying to help their clients. The original post to the rip off report were made because of lack of knowledge and my failure to understand the process. I apologize to the Mortgage Law Group/Macey,Aleman & Searns.
