Upon reviewing my CREDO mobile phone bill, I found MBLLOVE_ALT listed under Downloads and Premium Services Detail with a fee of $9.99. I called CREDO Mobile to report the error on my bill. They told me that since it was a third-party application, there was nothing they could do about it. Looking this up MBLLOVE_ALT online, I found it to be synonymous with MyMobileLove.Com, a website to which I'd never been before. Apparently, they send romantic text messages to one's mobile phone for a monthly fee. I have not received any such text messages. So, not only have I been billed for a service to which I did not subscribe, but I have been billed for a service which I have not received either.

WHY "contact the FTC"? They cannot do anything.

People need to understand the role of the FTC.They DO NOT represent any individual consumer in any matter. When you send a complaint to the FTC, it simply gets added to an archive for possible future use by other government agencies, and you get a dandy auto reply form letter.
Your dispute is soley with your phone carrier. They are responsible for all third party billing, but it is a big hassle for them so they try to tell you they can't do anything in hopes that you will go away.
After your initial call to customer service, if you don't get satisfaction, STOP CALLING. Stay off the phone at this point and do everything in writing.
Send all written disputes via certified mail, return reciept requested and be sure to put the certified# in the body of the letter and keep a copy for your records. This method is essential as it proves exactly what you sent.
If you have done any downloads at all from your cell phone, you most likely "authorized" the "subscription" without realizing it, as they are sneaky and love to make you scroll through endless fine print.
Demand to see that proof of your alleged authorization for the "subscription" which would include date and time, etc.

This happened to me as well, I did this and I hope you will too! I'd would like to make a suggestion that you file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission in regards to this unsolicited text & subscription service. If enough of us complain, maybe we can help others not have this problem. They have an online form that is fairly easy to fill out and submit. |
