I was looking on the web for a nice dress to wear to a wedding. My friend and I had seen some dresses on the Newport site and she said she got a coupon for 30% off and free shipping. So we ordered the merchandise and put in both codes and we figured we were getting free shipping so we chose the Express fee of $10. The order confirmation was $128.85..I printed this receipt for my records as it says to do. The order arrived in 2 days..nice..worth the $10 because I was NOT paying any other shipping. I opened the package and my invoice was for $196.94...almost $70 more than I had approved.
I immediately called and they said they would let the "invoice specialist" know about my complaint and I left a phone no. for this "specialist" to call me back. Nothing for 3 days. I decided I just wanted to send all of it back and I would go find something else to wear..I emailed the customer service department and explained the errors and this was their fault so I just want to send it back and have the entire amount refunded. I would not have even placed the order if the codes were not acceptable. The customer service department finally responds that conveniently there system did not recognize the codes for the 30%. So apparently they can just adjust the amount and charge your card. So in 3 business days I will have this refunded. Which it was. Well what about the shipping?
My event is now over and I purchased something else. I called today to verify that I am returning the merchandise and expect that the full remaining amount will be refunded and that they should not deduct the $6.95 for shipping from it because this is all due to their error. It was deceiving to make me believe that I was getting the discounts when I wasn't. They said I used a code only for Encore customers. ?? I guess you need to be in the club to use this code which my friend nor I did not know. I asked why their site did not accept it when it was keyed in? I got a bunch of bull and spoke with a "supervisor" who insists it was my fault that I did not know the code was not meant for "me" to use. I don't know how I am supposed to know this when I key it in it should say NO!
Apparently this is the way they make their $$$ because due to their errors and deceit I will end up paying the $10 (express), $17.99 (shipping) $1.95 (handling) and $6.95 to return it Total of $36.89 for nothing..almost as much as the dress I ended up buying for the event I had.
I wouldn't order on-line call the 1-800# and talk to a person who can verify your actual total!

The reason that your code wasn't accepted for free shipping was not only because it was for the use of Insider Pass members, but because you got it off a third party website! The codes from these websites are not honored by the company. Right on the website you got it from it states that they don't guarantee that the codes will be honored, so basically you use them at your own risk. You chose to use a pirated code, got caught and now you are trying to blame the company! If you want to receive valid and honored codes for Newport News all you have to do is sign up to receive our emails...its that simple! Its people like you who use these codes and cost the company millions of dollars each year, in turn forcing us to offer less promotions to our valid customers, as well as taking money from employees pockets cause we don't get our yearly raises, all because you wanted to try and scam the company. And you call us dishonest.
