Plaza Associates Crooked Collection Agency Threats to collect debt paid and payment erased New York

Received a collections letter for ending a false contract with Tmobile that was actually up but Tmobile claimed that it wasnt because I received a phone from them that extended my contract. Well depsite constant confirmation from several csr(s) that my contract was about to end they sent the account to collections...the catch is I paid full price for the phone so the acct should never have been extended. This isnt about TMobile at this point it is in regards to the company that is to alleged to have the debt "Plaza Associates". I recently became unemployment as a result of company restructuring and I took my 401K and paid off any debts that appeared on my credit. I went on line to www.plazaassociates.com and I made a payment in full to them(settlement). I have never ever received a call from the company but the same afternoon that I made the payment I got a collections call from a gentleman making threats about the debt etc. I informed him that I paid the account in full hours before his call so why was he wasting my time. This person swore no payment was made until I logged back into their site and proved the payment was there. This was not good enough he then claimed that he was handling an acct for overdrafts with Wachovia Bank... a debt settled in 2006. Anyhow two days later I got a call from Plaza Associates stating that my payment did not go through and that I would have to make payment to them again but this time via credit card not a check as I did previously. I paid 5 others that day with no problems but there's didnt go through(Plaza Associates)? I was told that if I did make payment that it would go to the credit bureaus..duh already there following my refusal to pay and calling them rip offs I requested a supv and informed ther that I was speaking with a gentleman who called me x2 days earlier and stated to me that I made the payment for the lower settlement amount which is bad for my credit report and it is in my best interest to pay the full debt amount, following questioning whether I am paying to rid myself of the debt or to better my credit. I told him both and he advise me to pay the full 770. as opposed to the settlement of 421.09. This seems like extortion to me. They continued to harrass me until I removed my information from their website. Now I am receiving calls from another company Palisades ??? something claiming they now have the debt. Is there no end to this? I am requesting any assistance and I am willing to go the extra mile to put these dirt bags in their place contingent on the correct directions/channels to take. As the consumer I must claim ignorant as to how to fight them and they are aware of it and this is why they bully consumers around but I am so tired of the credit system and these collectors. Funny how this company and x2 others have come up with old claims following clearing up my credit. Any help will go a long way!!!
