I have been a member of ppl for about 6 years now, the monthly fee is approx. $16, i consider that a fair price for the services you receive if you actually use the program as it is designed.  If you read all of the provided material that legal shield provides they offer free wills, they write letters on your behalf amongst other great things.

Cancelling the service is as easy as a phone call and i believe  at most sending them a certifed letter via the usps.  again, noot rocket science. and an out of pocket cost of maybe  $5.  I hardly consider this service to fall under the category of a ripoff of any nature.

I am very confused by the unhappiness of this complaint. I have had a membership to Prepaid Legal for 4 years. I can cancel my membership anytime I want without penalty and have never paid a hefty annual fee. In fact there is no such fee.

There is not a contract like satellite television service. It's soley a month to month thing. If you're unhappy with services, simply call customer support and cancel the membership.

Additionally, the issue with it being a percent plan. The membership percent discount is only one of the benefits included. There are a total of five areas of membership coverage. And it is very much like having a lawfirm, not just an attorney, on retainer. My provider law firm in Ohio is one of the biggest and best law firms in Ohio. I only pay $17.00 a month for acces to their advice whenever I need it and on whatever issue I have.

Firstly, I will apologize if your father was provided with the wrong information.

My rebuttal is to clarify the cancellation process. You father is not on a contract, therefore may cancel. He simply has to call the head office, advise who he is and that he would like to cancel his membership. They will mail you a form. He fills out and signs the form and may mail or fax the said form back to the office. The following month his membership will be cancelled. In total the process takes less than one month (depending on the members timing on filling out the form and sending it back).

This service is not a scam. I have used it numerous times myself. If someone expressed the wrong information verbally, that was an error; however, there is numerous pamphlets, websites, meetings and viral videos that explain the product which is true to form.

Furthermore, if your father signed the Application (which must have occurred) that signature is agreement to the fees. The initial fees are written on the Application itself. Therefore, if he reviewed the Application, he would have noted the fee being charged.

Thank you for your time.
