In Jan. '13 I moved to Titusville and went to nearby Regions Bank, Garden St. Br., and changed my address.  However they only changed it on my Checking Acct. and 4 mos. later I discovered I hadn't  rec'd 4 monthly Statements for  my HELOC. Mike Burd was not jelpful so I contacted Birminham Collections Supv., Tamera. In June '14 She cancelled all Late and other Fees and I paid $468.70 for 5 back monthly payments.  Mike Burd twice  said the Bank was not Required to send a monthly Statement and later Denied that.  Subsequently, I began receiving notices of new fees and late charges and a higher interest rate, Double, as I continued to make monthly payments in Orig. Amt. as Tamera had told me.  Some new statements were sent, but to WRONG address. On 12/2/'14 I paid my monthly pmt. direct to Mike Burd and he receipted it.  Then He said all was OK and tried to email Reeta in Birmingham HQ to confirm status of my acct. "The  System was down" so I asked him to confirm in writing the status of my acct. As before, Burd did not respond. When  I tried to make Pmt. on 12/31/'14  it was REFUSED.  Burd was off and I talked to Asst. who called Birmingham and spoke w/Tamera again.  Regions had previously admitted "Bank Error" caused this mess, but has continually failed to Ethically correct their error and confirm in writing to me.  The only Document I rec'd was a copy of the Reinstatement of the orig. interest rate.  But they still want Charges and Fees for the period when the Raised my rate!!! Stay away from Regions Bank!!!

You can't blame the bank for the payments you didn't make

Go back and read your HELOC agreement. I bet there is a paragraph stating the payment is due whether you are in receipt of a statement or not.

How do you go for 4+ months and not notice that you haven't made a payment on a mortgage? After all, that is what a Home Equity Line of Credit is, a mortgage.

You can blame the bank for not changing all of your accounts if you specifically directed the representative to change the address. But you can't blame the bank for your failure to make payments and your failure to check your accounts at least one time a month.

Take responsibility for your actions and for your failure to pay.
