Safe Security Safe Security WONT let you CANCEL ACCOUNT San Ramon California

Safe Security is such a rip off. I've been a loyal customer for 8 years. I sold my home and contacted Safe Security. They told me that I could fax them a letter stating I was canceling 30 days prior to my renewal date. My renewal date was in October. I called them in June when my home was under contract. They also said that I would be responsible for paying for the end of the contract. I agreed to pay till October. I faxed over a letter to Safe 4 times. I contacted safe and they stated that they received my cancellation letter. It is now April and I received a letter from Rosenthal, Morgan and Thomas, Inc. stating that I owe $674.18. I spoke with Steve Hayden who told me it didn't matter if Safe said I could fax the letter, that the original contract states that I must mail a letter certified 30-60 days prior to the renewal date. He was rude, arrogant and told me that I violated the contract. I informed him that I have dates, times and names of everyone at safe that I spoke with including a copy of my fax with a fax receipt. Steve stated that It didn't matter and I was liable for the $674.18 and since i wasn't "cooperating" they were going to take this to their legal department and that if I got a lawyer involved, I was just "wasting more money I would have to pay" I refuse to pay for this out of principal. Safe Security should not be aloud to be in business. Anyone who has been ripped off by them should NOT pay the bill, it's extortion.
