Theater Research scam for speakers Spokane Washington

while at work one day a friend of mine that i trust came to me and said that they knew someone that had a set of Theater Research speakers for sale for 1999.00 each but was willing to let them go for 400 dolars each. so that he could make some quick cash for a concert he wanted to go to.

when i heard this naturally being an audiophile i lept. when i looked at the speakers they appeared to be of fine quality but after closer examination i noticed that the speakers used are not as good of quality as i had expected.

i had the speakers removed from the cabinet and looked for a ported voice coil and vented spider and high quality tinsel leads these drivers had none of the above. in fact they loked like really pretty looking radio shack loudspeakers. not of high quality.

i would have to say that the chambers for these twelve inch drivers probably cost $30 dollars each then the drivers themselves including the horn tweeter was probably 25 for the woofer and 10 for the horn making one whole speaker net cost about 65$ if you pay more than this for them you got scammed other than that they sound relatively good and they really look pretty but personally i never cared how pretty my audio eqip is just as long as it sounds incredible. these look incredible and sound ok... wrong combination for me! luckily i talked my salesperson all the way down to 120 for the set.. this tells me he either payed less. or took a hell of a loss! be careful when buying this brand of speaker. they sound all right but they are certainly not professinal quality. anyone who knows speakers will say the same thing about these drivers. buy them for the cabinets alone and put some nice Memphis DVCs in them then they would be cool.
