I was interested in the "Think and Lose" product. Went to their web site www.thinkandlose.com to check it out.
Thought that it looked good and decided to order. The site said that if I paid up front I could receive an additional program for $19.95 with no additional shipping. I thought OK could get one for my daughter.
Went to order and then it got weird. Sent me to "UPGRADE" pages to try to sell additional products. I didn't want the first one, but thought that some of the others were fine, so I ordered the MP3 player.
The web site does not tell you that for each program you order, if you want a MP3 player, it automatically adds a MP3 player to your order.
So I click the not interested button, and presto I have ordered $149.75 and have never been asked if that was what I wanted.
So I email them right away; call them, not showing in the Customer Service Dept. They tell me to call next morning. I call next morning, still not showing up. Call back in the PM.
Then I get an email saying that I can't cancel my order, it is now shipping. I call them and while I was on the phone trying to cancel, they preauthorize my debit card so I can't stop anything.
Now I am going to have to pay $149.75 for something that I might have ordered, but with their scam system, I have to pay for.
If you want to try this product, please do not use their web site, call them, maybe they won't rip you off as bad.

Think and Lose - Beware
AUTHOR: Pauline - (United States of America)

I too had a similar situation to M. Cortez. I was looking at the product online and ordered the basic product, and checked interest in a couple of the other offers assuming that I would be able to review and confirm my order before processing. I could not have been more wrong - I clicked order expecting to be taken to a final review only to find that the order was placed ..... I immediately called customer service to cancel the order, but no one was able to help me - I even asked to speak to a supervisor, but was told that they were unavailable at that time but would call me back within 24-48 hours. I was told not to worry about anything as I would be able to return the product within 30 days if unsatisfied.... I felt ill at ease with the whole process and lack of help from the so called customer service department - I would have been happy to continue with my order of the basic product if I could just cancel the add-ons.... However, I was told that this could not be done. NOTE: I had only place my order 5 mins. prior to calling them...
Their ploy is to tell you that they cannot see the order in their system yet and they ask you to call back in 24-48 hours - I assume this is to give them time to charge your credit card... As I work in the online service industry, I knew this was in fact a mis-representation......
My only course of action at this time was to call my credit card company to try and stop the charges which would have been well over $100 above what I originally wanted to spend.... Fortunately, I was very fast and nothing had been charged at the time I called, but I did have to go through the inconvenience of canceling my card so that they could not process their charges.....
Bottom line - DO NOT order from this company online, if you do please make sure you are absolutely sure before you press order because there will be no help if you make an error or expect to be able to review your order (as with all other companies) prior to completion.....

Terry = SHILL
AUTHOR: Mongo Lloyd - (United States of America)

Terry is clearly a shill, either an employee of the company in question... or working for their internet marketing firm.
I went to the site. I went to the forums associated with the site. I was struck by the few people actually posting... and by the repetitive posts from supposed customers. Specifically, one poster named "hopefulinWI", has posted about a million times. The posts all seem to sound as if they were crafted by a professional shill. For example, I quote one post,
"Good Morning All, One year and five months listening to Don and TNL, and it is still awesome, still working and still the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have no doubt that TNL will still be working in another year and every year after that. TNL can be the answer for everyone: those thinking about it, those just starting out, those who may be getting frustrated and feel it's not working for them and those who are doing fine, but wondering if it will continue. We are all different, we all have different eating habits and food issues and other problems we may bring to the table, but I truly believe that TNL will work for each and every one of us. It's all about patience, repetition, taking advantage of the forum for help, believing and knowing in your heart that this is it! We all can have the success that we want and the freedom from food that we all desire. Think and Lose = success and freedom. - Shirley "
Ah. The syrupy sweetness just makes you either want to open your wallet and BUY RIGHT NOW... or if you are like me, it makes you want to throw up. Shirley, you cannot be serious (I am serious, and don't call me Shirley).
I have purchased many products I have really loved, over the years. Do I love one of them so much, that I would write a post like the example above, one of many by this same person? NO.
I have seen this before a few times. Companies... who build their own reputation with paid marketing shills. One that immediately comes to mind is a tax dispute company... fronted by an angry fat man with red hair. They use the same tactics... only a bit more aggressive about it.
Bottom line: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Terry:
your rebuttal to McMerla's perfectly valid complaints, is a showcase example of why consumers have become so dissatisfied with the customer service provided to them by companies that sell products such as "Think And Lose". Although I suspect you actually work for the company selling "Think And Lose", since you jumped so quickly to the defense of shabby mistreatment of a consumer, substandard execution of service, and to invalidate a consumer's justifiable complaints, this atrocious attitude is why sales are so paltry and why it is no surprise the company has to resort to internet theft by improper billing to make any money. The fact that you didn't have the same experience with this company, doesn't invalidate McMerla's experience or make it any less true. Especially since there are so many other consumers experiencing the same, exact problems.
As to you being in this business, listen very carefully: "CUSTOMERS DON'T OWE YOU A THING!" Not even their time. They are not obligated to endure you pimping your other products to them, because they have more important things going on in their lives, like going to work, or raising their children. It is not a PRIVILEGE to do business with yours or any other company, in fact, most of the time it's a chore. In fact, customers are actually doing YOU a favor by providing YOU with a job. Certainly you are not GIVING consumers anything, as the mark-up is so high, in reality consumers, ARE paying, even for the so-called free stuff. A buyer makes an even exchange of goods or services for money with the seller. We buyers should get what we pay for, only what we pay for, at the agreed upon price, as expediently as possible, without having our valuable time or money wasted.
I have gone to many websites, Amazon.com for example, that unobtrusively suggest other products, without interfering with the expedient purchase of the original item I came for. They don't interfere because they know if they don't make shopping a hassle for me, when I'm in a hurry, I'm much more likely to shop with them when I'm not in a hurry, and maybe even buy those suggested products. They completely understand that if they piss me off and make my experience with them miserable, I'm not going to buy anything else from them. It's called providing good customer service and establishing long term relationships with customers, but I guess if your product is CRAP, all you're interested in is making a QUICK BUCK, and happy customers don't matter.
"And, the other 'upgrade' pages had good stuff - it all had to do with the program" it doesn't matter whether this other stuff was made of diamonds and gold! If the customer doesn't want it, they have the right to decide what they want to buy and don't want to buy. It is, after all, the customer's money right? Why not? Because McMerla didn't want it, that's why. Enough said. Case closed. As far as refusing the shipment, you won't get a refund by doing that, in fact you can't send that product back without an RA number from "Think And Lose" (and getting an RA number from the is like pulling teeth). If you do send it back without an RA number, it gets lost in the system and you have neither the product, nor the money.
The most disgusting thing, is you act as though you're not aware that these internet companies selling products like "Think And Lose", "Video Professor", and the myriad of products sold by Billy Mays, con consumers into give up their credit card numbers then sock them with a huge bill for at prices they didn't agree to, then to add insult to injury, they tack on exorbitant shipping fees that are more than it would cost you to send a parcel to Antarctica. Then when they call the 800 number to try and straighten out the mess, they get someone with an attitude like yours, uncooperative, unremorseful and unrepentant after having ripped someone off.
McMerla:
I'm so sorry you got taken advantage of. I hope it helps to know that your complaint has dissuaded me from buying this product or any product from this company. A few tips for the future:
1. When I shop on the internet, I key in the name of the product in my Google search window and the first thing I do when my results page comes up is look for any reviews or complaints pages, for the product I'm interested in. I read those first, even before I go to the the product website, to gauge how many complaints there are against them and decide whether I want to do business with them.
2. When I 'm unfamiliar with a company and how they do business, I look for an alternative means of payment, rather than giving them access to my credit card or checking account. In this case, "Think And Lose" gives the option of sending in a money order for the total of $39.95 and $12.95 shipping costs. You have to search around for the page that gives this information, but it's there.
3. When in doubt about the company, but I need the product quick by credit card, I search for the product at a big reseller like Amazon.com, or PayPal. Along with having great customer reviews, these companies have policies that give you some recourse if you're not happy with the product or service, and want your money back.
Hope my tips help. Happy Shopping these Holidays!

I just ordered on the web site even though I had seen your message (I don't like calling and talking to a live rep and since it's a free trial then why not).
I have a totally different opinion. First off, which web sites do you go to that don't offer other products, especially when they're offering the product for free for a 30 day period. And, the other "upgrade" pages had good stuff - it all had to do with the program. I mean, just say no if you don't want it. Obviously you ordered something additional so why the complaint?
And I also ordered an additional program for 19.95. Since it's half price and I don't have to pay if I don't keep it, then why not. Well I agree that the mp3 player looked great. It's got all these sessions already loaded - I'm lazy so I love that, and it was very clear on the page that it said that you would get the mp3 player "with each Think and Lose program." I mean that seems pretty clear to me. I ordered 2 Think and Lose programs so I get 2 MP3 players. Plus, I want to give it to my sister and she wouldn't be so happy if I didn't also give her the mp3 player. So, saying it "automatically gives you one" is a half truth - it states that you will get it.
NOt sure what you mean about the "Not interested" button since I also pressed it on things I didn't want (like the smoking program) and it didn't show on my confirmation page - it only showed what I ordered.
What you wrote about them charging you while you were on the phone sounds like you're really fishing. I'm in customer service with a big company and we don't charge for the products that are being fulfilled. We field the calls and issue credits, etc - but the running of the charge is when the order is processed in the production facility, so to make it sounds like they purposely charged you while they had you on the phone is really reaching. We have the same issue at our company - once an order is placed, it's near impossible to stop it since it's all automated - it's not like the old days when they walk out and grab the order. It's like finding a needle in the haystack.
What I don't get is if you don't want it, just do "refuse to sender" or send back the part you don't want. I'm reading their site info right now and it says "All money back guarantee". Plus, since they give us 30 days, you might as well try it before sending it back.
I don't know, but my experience was clear, quick, and easy. But, I also give the benefit of the doubt and I know someone who did the program and loved it so I'm going in with a good attitude. And if it doesn't work, I'll get my money back - what's to complain about that?
