I as well was set up for being ripped off by Vacations Direct. I got a call from their rep telling me they had someone lined up to buy my timeshare points and all I needed to do was pay $787 for their fee up front and the transaction should take no more than six weeks. After being strung along for nearly three months, and suspecting I had been ripped, the rep called me to tell me that the company was ripping everyone off and there never was a buyer for any of the customers. I later got a message from a female saying she was the owner and had fired the rep for telling people he had a buyer when he didn't. I returned her call several times and never heard back. I immediately contested my credit card charge and the credit company was awesome. At least I was not out anything other than a wasted three months. Ironically, about a month later, I got a call from another rep telling me he was taking my file over and promised much better service. He told me he had two buyers lined up and they just had to go through financing. He told me he would call me in a few days to set up the closing. Three weeks later and several dodged calls later, I was finally able to get him on the phone because someone else answered his line. He told me he received notice of my charge reversal so I was no longer a client and that's why he didn't return my calls. When I asked about the two people in financing, they had mysteriously failed to get financed. He tried to tell me that he had more people in the pipeline to buy my property, but when I pressed him, he admitted he didn't have anyone ready to go at the moment.
The hair stood up on the back of my neck when I was first contacted by Vacations Direct, but I gave in to the lure of a sure buyer. Don't make the same mistake! I have since contacted the appropriate authorities for investigation.

Avoid this company Vacations Direct, they are fradulent

After weeks, "William" from customer service called me. He assured me that he was here to help. I told him he could help by refunding my money, instead he tried to patronize me, he told me not to yell - I wasn't yelling. So, he was trying to bait me... I hung up, he had the nerve to call back and arogantly asked me why I hung up on him he wasn't done. I told him he was done and I am going to sue. At one point when I told him I was suing he said "what for $500" yes William, the money isn't the point.

Any reputable company would honor their agreement not try to intimidate. So Vacations Direct, William added insult to injury. Not only am I suing, I have been in touch with the AG and have signed a complaint with Florida Consumer Fraud Agency. Tomorrow I will be contacting the FBI. Your representative DID tell me as well that he had a buyer all lined up why else would the company offer to refund my money if they couldn't deliver. You all should be ashamed of yourselves, its a disgrace. You will be hearing from the authorities.

I was contacted today with the assurance that the company wanted to make things right. There still is an issue with what I was presented from the original rep, but the company says he acted unilaterally and they want to do things right. Hopefully they will maintain communication and give good news soon.

Everything listed is factual. In fact, not everything has been posted so as to not jeopardize the investigation. Whether the illegal practices were on the part of the original rep or on the part of the company as a whole remains to be seen but this IS NOT a false or slanderous report. Bring on the attorney and I'll be happy to present my evidence. Kind of ironic that several people from different parts of the country are making the same allegations.
