I have always used postal money orders to make my home payments and have always used the postal service to deliver them and on Wed. May 23rd 2007 my brother sent in the May home payment and on Sat. May 26th 2007 I received a phone call from a woman representing Vanderbilt Mortgage complaining that they have not received no such payment and I indicated to her that it had been sent in on the 23rd and that it should be there by then and she said she would check into it and the phone call ended in about a ten minute span. After about an hour the phone rang again and it was the same woman from Vanderbilt Mortgage, and she told me that yes the payment has arrived and that it would be posted. Now I find out to my dismay that on my credit report that they reported the payment over 30 days late. This is not right and should not be allowed to go on and these companies should be made to sign for their mail dated from the post office without having to send everything certified! I have kept all my receipts and will be investigating this to the best of my ability but what else can be done?

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Pay Online

AUTHOR: Paula - (U.S.A.)

I was with Vanderbilt for many years. Your only option is to send your payment via certified mail or make a payment over the phone or online. I realize that there is more cost involved to do so but, in my opinion, it is well worth it. If you do decide to make your payment by phone or online make sure you get a confirmation number.

I never had a problem with Vanderbilt payments online or by phone other than them calling everyday to collect said payment. Thankfully I have refinanced with another company and never have to deal with Vanderbilt again.
