MY HUSBAND & I BOUGHT OUR MANUFACTURED HOME IN JUNE, 2000; OUR LENDER WAS CHASE BANK AT THAT TIME. WE REFINANCED IN 2002 AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, VANDERBILT MORTGAGE ACQUIRED OUR LOAN FROM CHASE. WE WANTED TO REFINANCE OUR HOME AGAIN LAST YEAR BUT IT HAS BEEN NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. HERE'S WHERE THE PROBLEM COMES IN.....VANDERBILT REQUIRES MOST OF THE LENDERS THEY PARTNER WITH TO SIGN A "NO COMPETE CLAUSE" WHICH MEANS MOST OTHER LENDERS ARE NOT ABLE TO REFINANCE YOUR LOAN BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE COMPETING WITH VANDERBILT!!!!! RIDICULOUS!!!!! I FIND THIS TO BE ILLEGAL AS VANDERBILT DOES NOT EVEN DO REFINANCES ON THEIR OWN EXISTING LOANS SO THEY ARE, IN ESSENCE, PREVENTING THEIR CUSTOMERS FROM GETTING REFINANCES ELSEWHERE WHICH SEEMS TO BE AGAINST THE LAW. WHAT ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO DO? SIT THERE FOR 20 YEARS AND NEVER BE ABLE TO REFINANCE YOUR HOME BECAUSE OF THIS CRAP? I UNDERSTAND FROM OTHER LENDERS I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THAT THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF TENNESSEE HAS BEEN CONTACTED REGARDING THIS MATTER. I ALSO CALLED VANDERBILT'S OFFICE AND SOME SMART-A** B**CH INFORMED ME THAT WARREN BUFFET IS THE CEO OF VANDERBILT AND IF I HAD A PROBLEM, I COULD TAKE IT UP WITH HIM. HMMMMM

VMF does refinance their own loans. You have been misinformed and nd to get your facts straight. There is a team in house that refinances and has a marketing team that helps with this!

Oakwood Acceptance Corporation and Vanderbilt Mortgage
BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY INC
1440 Kiewit Plaza
Omaha NE 68131
Dear Mr. Warren Buffet CEO,
I am writing to inform you that the company you purchased, Oakwood, mislead, misrepresented, lied to us, and threatened us into foreclosure on a mobile home we purchased from them. Tactics including but not limited to: promises made by staff that were not fulfilled, stealing our personal possessions, delaying delivery and set up dates, refusing to make agreed upon repairs, tricking us into purchasing insurance, and signing arbitrary agreements to prevent lawsuits, claiming by telephone that payments are late when they are not, lying, refusing to give payoff amounts, telling potential buyers that payoff was higher than it actually was, harassment and threatening personal injury if the sale of the mobile home to a 3rd party was completed.
According to the complaints I found on www.RipOffReport.com, I am not the only victim. I discovered that Oakwood filed for bankruptcy after I received a payment book from Vanderbilt Mortgage of Clayton Homes. This occurred shortly after you purchased Clayton Homes and Vanderbilt Mortgage.
Since then, I have been harassed by representatives of Vanderbilt as well as SYNCOM, a debt collector who is also used by Fairbanks Capital Corporation currently under investigation by the FTC. I have also discovered many complaints against Vanderbilt Mortgage, as well as Wells Fargo, a company whose corporate shares you own.
I will not give Vanderbilt/you any more money. No threats, harassment or the attempt to destroy our good character will aid your efforts in getting more money from us. I feel if I allow you to continue to extort money from us you will only be encouraged to gratify yourself on the poor, elderly, our Armed Forces and their families.
I will continue to pursue justice from your subsidiaries. Should I ever have the opportunity to get Berkshire Hathaway before a court, I will present this letter. I will also post it on the internet and give any person, law firm or organization permission to use this letter as evidence Berkshire Hathaway has been made aware of the conduct of Oakwood Acceptance Corporation, Vanderbilt Mortgage, Clayton Manufactured Homes and Wells Fargo.
Sincerely,
Georganna

My mortgage was sold to vanderbilt from The Asscociates. I too am in retaliation mode with Vanderbilt. They and all those involved are continually in violation of several laws, in my opinion. Just to let all of you Vanderbilt victims know also, I stumbled upon their website www.vmf.com and tried to log in for their NEW online payment system, well, wouldn't you know it, after logging on and putting in the required info, I was unable to make a payment at this time, please contact customer service...another ploy i suppose to get you to call in and be verbally abuse and harrassed.
I also found out that al of you who have vanderbilt mortgages that originated with The asscociates, The FTC backed a suit in Calif. I believe, that settled with the Asscociates customers for a rather large amount in a class action. Looking into that further. I personally don't give a crap if Warren Buffet (which i knew was the Ceo) is the ceo or the Queen of England, Bring it Warren! Maybe we should all get together and write to him as well. I have filed a report with the FTC on Vanderbilt practices, and received an electronic response, but nevertheless it's in their system.
