Westgate Resorts Aggressive Sales get you in the door, filthy, roach infested room, child injured due to poor maintenance Orlando, Florida

We were harassed into buying a timeshare by a very aggressive sales person. We were taken by golf cart away from our car and hustled until I was in tears because it had been over 3 hours and we had left our children with my elderly grandparents--a fact I shared with our sales person. Somehow we still wound up buying. We were told weeks don't matter and given false information about appraisal value. The room seemed nice and was modern at the time and we really just wanted to get out of there.

When we finally went to stay in our timeshare it cost us a few hundred dollars--despite the fact that the "weeks did not matter". We were welcomed on the first night by a giant belly up cockroach in the middle of the kitchen--many smaller "mourners" came to his wake during our week. The tiles & mirrors were chipped there was black hair everywhere and the furniture was falling apart. On our first morning --keep in mind we had just arrived from a timezone 4 hours away--highly aggressive sales people called three times before 9 am because it sounded like life or death if we did not come see someone at the main building. It was yet again another sales pitch. Apparently week selection DOES matter and the building we were shown and purchased in was old --not the one we were shown. And the solution was for us to spend another mere $10K to buy in one of the newer buildings (for real this time we were assured) and on and on and on. When we declined we were huffed at and dismissed.

When the state of our room was reported they came and cleaned. the roached we were told they could fumigate for but that it probably would be bad for our kids.

Then our allergies started acting up. We discovered that there was a giant hole in the dryer vent. We reported it. They came and replaced it--but did not bother to actually attach it to the wall--so next day was a repeat. Housekeeping was nice enough to call at 8 am, twice, to check on it though.

For the grand finale we were awakened on New Year's Day by my 4 year old in hysterics. We discovered her covered in blood. She slipped on the loose trim on her bed frame and cracked her face on the night stand. She had a deep 1 inch gash under her eye. We went to the front desk and were told nonchalantly that there was a hospital next door--how convenient. When we returned I went back to the front and they sent security over and had us fill out affidavits. I was catching roaches and putting them in glasses so they could have souvenirs of their visit to our fine room. They told me that it did not look like the scar would be that bad and sort of shrugged it off.

I swear that the week we got home they had the audacity to start sending us "maintenance fee" bills. I called to tell them why I did not think I really needed to pay the bill and they had no record of any incident or complaint we had filed while we were at the resort. I told them it might be time to contact an attorney and they huffed and puffed at me. I am not litigious by nature but Westgate sold me a false bill of goods using scam tactics, ruined the first vacation I had taken in 8 years and left my baby with a scar under her eye that 4 months later people still comment on daily.
