Yellow Pages Online Services is apparently a company that relies heavily on the fact that many business owners receive multiple yellow page correspondance, as many areas have multiple directories.  I too received the "this is not a bill" statement that others who have filed complaints indicated having received.  I inadvertently submitted some changes to them under the impression that it was simply a contract that I presently had for my business with an actual valid yellow page publication.

Only when I received an overdue bill from them, did I realize the error.  I contacted them right away and explained the situation, only to be advised that they could not remove the online advertisement for my business for 6 months and that I'd have to pay for the posting.  I was initially told they would "update our contract" and I asked that that entailed exactly and was told she'd need to talk with someone about my concerns and was put on hold.  I was subsequently disconnected and when I made mulitple attempts to call them back, it went directly to voice mail.  I eventually left a voice message with my name, account number and phone number asking that my call be returned. I heard from no one ironically until someone called while I was on the phone the following day (that person left a message with my answering service and when I hung up from the gentleman I spoke with today, and attempted to call back, the message said the number I was dialing had been disconnected!  What kind of scam artists are these people?!

So the bottom line was, that they wouldn't or couldn't take the post off the website (which is difficult to believe) and that the best they could offer was to remove the late fee charge as I said I wouldn't pay it. While on the phone with the representative, I did a web search of ypedia.com and advised him that this website and several others were the first thing that one sees that address the complaints and fraud issues. Wish I had seen it before.

Very frustrating situation ending with me giving them an American Express card by phone as I was concerned about a problem with our credit if I didn't.  Nothing like being provided with no customer service!
