TLDR:

United Airlines was made aware: (3x in-person, 5x via the online app, & 2x with customer support via phone)

* That I was stuck at the airport for 3 days sleep deprived (on occasion told by security not to sleep.)
* That I had noted items missing/stolen (required to make a report of missing/stolen belongings within 24hrs, while being stranded for 72hrs; that's impossible!)
* That I had informed them about damages to my belongings adding to a total of $4,100 USD (including my laptop I use for work, and my nebulizer I use to help me breathe during asthma attacks). (Since my nebulizer no longer operates properly when turned on, I told them, "...am I supposed to just die if I have another attack?" - they had no response).
* That I already informed the DOT of their actions. (The DOT has not responded in months).

Brief Overview:

Spoke to a Rep at the counter about my flight being delayed by 2hrs, and because I had a layover. I was placed on another flight that was already overbooked, but still heading to IAH. To my dismay all the signs for my original flight said, "delayed," but at the last 2 minutes before it's scheduled departure, it suddenly changed to, "on time". It was delayed due to a mechanical issue on United's end. The new flight I was booked on, was full, and so started the 3-day process from SFO, to IAH, to JAX.

STEP 1:

Wait 6hrs, reach a terminal, told it's overbooked, given a new flight and new terminal to trek to at the airport.

STEP 2:

Wait 6hrs, reach a terminal, staff/managers don't understand why I have so many boarding passes, decide to give me a new flight and new terminal, because they don't want to deal with it.

STEP 3:

Repeat steps 1 and 2.

When I chatted with their "online app representative" they informed me that because 1 FLIGHT was weather related, (no matter how many boarding passes I was required to have at each terminal), that I would NOT be compensated(given a voucher) for a hotel, a cot, or even a "minuteRest" room - AND I was told I was NOT allowed to sleep on airport grounds.

A flight scheduled and ready for the 27th of Dec 2024, I was held and did not land at my destination, until the 31st of Dec with delays leading to the 1st of Jan 2025.

After I finally got to my destination, I spoke to a phone rep for lost or damaged luggage, and they said, "You have 24 hours to report damages once you land". How? I was stuck in the airport transferred from terminal to terminal for 72hrs straight! They noted that I had only 2 boarding passes on file, when in reality I actually had 12(9 physical + 3 digital).

I'm typing this on an external keyboard that I luckily brought with me, as my laptop keyboard no longer functions. Additionally, I can no longer perform certain tasks (most likely a hardware issue). I'm not overexerting myself in any capacity. I don't want to flare up an asthma attack, as my nebulizer also no longer functions properly.

If you're curious as to why I couldn't accommodate myself, or pay for my own food, or even pick the airline, that's another story in itself. Just not that I lost 8lbs.

I'm a Southwest fan myself, prefer it actually. (I have photo proof of all the boarding passes and damages, I'm just not posting them for privacy sake. I will upload them if this post get's the attention of a United Airlines accommodation Representative, AND that they read back to me the demand letter from small claims).

All in all, NEVER USE UNITED AIRLINES!
