I got a telemarketing call a few minutes ago from a guy who called himself "Willian" from "21st Century Legal Services" offering to provide a fabulous new loan modification package that his company just got "authorized" by a some wiz-bang new bailout bill from Congress.

I asked him to identify himself, the address of his company and whether they are licensed to broker loan mods in Washington state (where he called me). He insisted that he didn't need to be licensed because his company provides "legal services". I asked for the name and State Bar number of his managing attorney, and the schmuck hung up the phone.

The thing that makes this funny is that I work for an attorney managing his client matters involving loan modifications and predatory lending cases. If we get another call from 21st Century, they may find themselves defending a fraud suit in federal court in Seattle (assuming they don't just scatter like cockroaches).

Guy must not get paid very much...

AUTHOR: Brian - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 26, 2009

...because his paid "rebuttal" looked like a plate of crap.

1) You neglected to ascertain whether the complainant received the call at home or at work, Mr. "Diro". Besides, lots of cold-call telemarketers war-dial when they get an automated system on the line. Did you write Dubya's "We gotta whup up on Iraq" speech to the UN? There was about as much attention to detail and fact paid during that laughable speech, so I figured I'd ask.

2) Actually, Mr. "Diro", licensing IS required by the state of Washington, regardless of the state in which your client's "business" is registered. See http://www.dfi.wa.gov/consumers/education/home_loan/loan-modification.htm for further details... not that such things as getting facts straight weigh heavily on your conscience, apparently.

3) Apparently, this number in the entry is little more than an exceedingly clumsy - even pathetic - attempt to "attack the messenger". Again, if you're paid to write EFFECTIVE rebuttals, then someone would probably do well to write a Rip-Off Report on YOU and at least let people know you profoundly suck and fail at prosecuting such obvious hit-jobbery.

4) Research is a wonderful concept that allows people to look up information on a given topic. I'd say try it sometime, but it appears you have the IQ of an opened, unrefrigerated jar of capers - if so, this is far below the threshold required to actually produce somewhat competent research. But hey, apparently you're paid well enough to just make childish attacks devoid of anything resembling fact.

5) The complainant's name is not "Jim Whidbey Island". The man's name is Jim. Whidbey Island, WA is his location - and if I were him, I'd see if there isn't a defamation suit that can come out of your response. You DO know that people like you can be tracked down much easier nowadays, yes? Ask a New Yorker named Rosemary Port how easy it is to be held accountable.

In conclusion, Mr. "Diro" - you're a tool, and an unusually ill-informed one at that. But hey, what do you care?

Also contacted by these guys -- and I've talked with my Mortgage Broker about these guys

AUTHOR: Eric - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Just a quick comment for those (like me) that were searching around the internet after receiving this telemarketer call. I came across this site, the post, and the rebuttal.

a) I don't think that the post was a "disgruntled employee". If you search around on Better Business Bureau and other sites, there are many other people saying the same thing
b) The call I received today seemed to post the same promise. Give them $4000, they will reduce my rate to 4%. If it doesn't work out, they will give the money back....

However, all the feedback I read and confirmed by speaking with my mortgage broker seemed to state the following:
1) While the guy I talked to said that there was a "98% success rate", the actual rate is much much lower..... Not sure how low, but low
2) Over the 3 month period that it supposedly takes to get approved, most people have had no luck getting in touch with these guys to check status
3) If you did try and get your money back, get ready for a battle. The guaranttee is a painful one and while it did seem that people after going through the BBB did get their money back, many did not.
4) I can't find ANY proof anyone who used these guys and actually DID get their money's worth. The "rebuttal employees" comment seems to be "why would anyone waste their time writing on a site like this". Obviously, that person is not familiar with this thing called "The Internet" where people post comments ALL THE TIME. Sharing information (right, wrong, and useless) is what the internet is all about. It helps people like me try and find information to make a decision. Again, if this was truly valuable, I'm sure there would be posts by SOMEONE talking about how valuable the service was. I couldn't find ONE comment like that.
5) My mortgage broker told me that there IS money to be provided and benefits for people who are having financial difficulties. However, you don't need these guys to do it. Do it yourself. Call your Mortgage company and talk to them.
6) My Mortgage broker also warned me that many of these companies go out of business and reinvent themselves. The government is supposedly cracking down on these (his words) "scam artists".

Bottom line, I'm passing on this "opportunity" and I recommend that others be careful.

1 - 21st Century Legal Services Saves Homes For Homeowners With Obama

AUTHOR: Mr Diro 21st Century - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 18, 2009

This is a rebuttal to this fraud article against 21st Century Legal Services

Here is another weak attempt by our disgruntled ex-employee to slam 21st Century Legal Services and here are the reasons this guy is who we say he is.

1 - Jim states, "I work for an attorney managing his client matters involving loan modifications and predatory lending cases."

How does a telemarketing call even get to Jim, a manager? Is Jim the receptionist?

Is his office so SLOW that he has time to chat with telemarketers?

2 - Later on Jim then states, "I asked... whether they are licensed to BROKER loan mods in Washington state."

Any attorney doing loan mods and anyone working for him would know hands down that loan mods are NOT brokered.

3 - Then Jim takes time out of his BUSY law day to write this report about 21st Century Legal Services. Out of the MILLIONS of people who receive a telemarketing calls, how many stop their day to file a report? I get tons of telemarketing calls at my house, like everyone else, but I don't waste my time trying to report them, unless I had an AXE to grind like our ex-employee, who today is known as JIM from Washington.

4 - From one short telemarketing call, Jim is able to size up everything about a company. This guy is amazing. He should quit his job doing loan mods and get an ACT in Las Vegas telling fortunes!

Jim Whidbey Island, Washington U.S.A. is a LIAR.

Some advice for Jim, Google, "Do not Bear False Witness"

By the way I get paid to write this rebuttal, otherwise I wouldn't waste my time with this.

Diro
