8x8, Inc Formerly Packet 8 Fraudulent use of my credit card, renewed my service without permission, will not let me cancel Sunnyvale, California

I used 8x8 as my VOIP telephone service provider for 4 years. I signed on to an annual plan where I paid for a years use in advance as it was economical. At some point during the service they started to charge me every month in addition to the annual fee, which they automatically charged my credit card every July. As the service got worse every year I decided to cancel. I logged in to their online account manager several months before the auto renewal in July and deleted the only credit card of record attached to my account, my Discover card. This should have been it, as they had no credit card of record to charge, but when July 2011 came, they charged my credit card anyway, which I consider to be fraud. I called them several times insisting on a credit and that my account was cancelled. Each time they told me I cannot cancel my account that  way, I have to talk to a live person. And each time I told them, I AM TALKING TO A LIVE PERSON, AND I WANT A CREDIT AND MY ACCOUNT CANCELLED!  At this they would tell me I was not talking to the right person and they would have to transfer me. I did this 2 or 3 times and each time I was dumped into a voicemail box where I left a very specific message relating all this.  After the third time I refused to waste my time any more. I did a charge back with DIscover to get my credit. Then 2 months later I noticed that 8x8 was STILL hitting my card with their monthly fee of $20+. This time I called Discover and insisted on filing a fraud complaint, gave them all the details. They then gave me my credits but said the only way to stop 8x8 from charging me was to cancel my Discover card and open a new account that 8x8 does not know the new credit card number.

That is what I have done. I urge everyone not to do business with this dis-reputable company.
