My story is very simular to the rest about Compac Moving, aka A-Trans, and possibly aka A Traf. I started communications with the company on February 4, 2010 for a move from Boston to Fort Myers, with the original date shipping date of March 29, 2010.

My initial estimate for the move was $800.00. After a bit of tweaks to the packing list,  that went up to $851.20.

They promised 5 free dish boxes, sent in advance....they sent book boxes.

Val called me 3 DAYS before my move and said that they needed to change the date (to March 28th)...because they did not realize there was a holiday on my move date. I told him that would be ok. But that I had not had a chance to pack all of my fragile items. He told me that they would help with that and he would give me a 5% discount(which I never saw).

In my first verbal conversation with Guy, he told me that I would get one month of free storage. With that, I asked if I would be able to gain access to my belongings. Because I needed my business attire (as well as several other important items), which would be in storage. He told me that my things would be in a large storage unit (with other's stored items) and as long as I contacted them in advance, they could schedule someone to be there, to permit me in.

At that time, I also asked Guy where their storage facility in Fort Myers was. He gave me the name of a street that was within 2 miles of my destination.

The moving team was only 2 guys! They were quick, but uncaring. (I would later find out several items were broken, not packed as fragile items) I asked them how and when would I know the total weight of my shipment. They told me that it would be weighed at the facility, in New Jersey, before being moved to a larger truck and shipped to Florida. And that someone would call me at that time.

Guy called me when it reached New Jersey and said the shipment was over the estimated weight and they would need to charge $900 to my credit card (on top of the $100 deposit that was charge before the move date). I asked if I could get a copy of the weighing bill emailed or sent to me. But I never got that either.

I called at 10:20am, on April 8th looking to gain access, I spoke to Val. He (rudely) informed me that my belongings were being housed in their facility in New Jersey and that I could not gain access until they were delivered to me. So, I told him I would like to arange a deliver date. At that, he asked if he could call me back in 20 minutes, but never did.

I rang back a 1:50pm that same day and got no answer. So, I called back the next day and Val said it should arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tuesday nothing. I called the office again on Wednesday and they said it should be arriving and gave me the driver's cell number.

So, I called the Driver (Avi) and he informed me that he was in North Carolina and would not be in Fort Myers until Friday or Saturday. But that he could not deliver on Saturday, because it was his day off!

He arrived Sunday morning (wearing flip-flops and shorts) and called me from the new storage facility that I reserved (who is not affiliated with Compac in any way). When I got there, he was waiting in his truck (which was not a 'Compac Moving' truck) and there was a young man waiting on the sidewalk. Apparently the delivery driver put an ad on Craigslist for assistance unpacking a moving truck. I know this because I asked the young man some question while he and I were bringing stuff to my unit and Avi was moving stuff from the truck to the sidewalk.

Avi told me before he could unpack anything, I owed another $400 cash.

The young man clearly knew nothing about moving. My TV was dropped, nearly breaking it and several other things were almost dropped as well. I had to assist with the moving that I paid someone else to do, while I was checking-off the items, as Avi yelled packing number to me from the truck.

Grand total this "Moving Company" cost me $1400.00 and that is not including any broken, lost or stolen items.

Bottom line.....avoid Compac Moving!!!!!
