2/12/2010 Traveling from Atlanta to Sarasota, Fl. We had the misfortune of breaking down on the way in GainesvilleFL. I am retired fom the Auto Industry with 37 years. I knew the problem seemed to be with the Transmission. We stayed at a hotelthat night. On Saturday 2/13/2010 I Called Mike at Aamco and he had it towed in to check out  He advised he was closing at noon that day and he would get back to me on Monday 2/15/2010. Mike called at (: am and said he had BAD NEWS. I had to replace Transmision and quoted $4,500.00 to $4800.00 to replace transmision. I knew this was outrageous. I asked them to put car together so I could make arrangements to have it towed out. Mike the Manager asked how I was going to pay the$575.00 for the checkout. I said by Credit Card. He said he could not take CC INFO over the phone. He gave me his Supervisor Michael and he is worse than the Store Manager Mike. After an hour of listening to his sales pitch and excuses I told him I wanted my vehicle readied to tow. He asked how I woud pay the $575.00 check out charge i told him by credit card. They know I have gone back home to Atlanta. He said he would not take CC info over phone. I told him fine i would have business check from dealership where van is going to be repaired. (AT HALF THE COST WITH 3 TIMES BETTER NATIONAL WARRANTY) I told him I would call corporate. He said fine call them. I will call Mike at store to get vehicle back together and call him back to apologise to get vehicle returned   Corporate says it is 2 Franchise and will have owner call me .2 days later no Call. Called corporate wating for a call back. Called store 10:00am 2/17/2010 and store manager Mike said transmission in Ocala at trans rebuild shop. I said why I told you Monday I did not want you to do anything but get my vehicle ready to tow. 2/17/2010 still trying to get car out. he said Ocala was not far and it was on the way back. Now Supervisor called and said whats the HURRY the vehicle is not drivable, I told him I NEED MY VEHICLE READ TO TOW OUT. He said it may take  aday or two.

This is the biggest rip off dealer in the industry I have ever known or heard about.

AAmco: The last i heard they are under a fedral court order to track and deal with complaints efectivly, I recomend a registered letter of complaint to AAMCO head office.

By the way if they are doing rebuilds at a central depot and have several R&R depots your trans probably went to the rebuild shop for inspection.

So they are guilty of being jerks, using high pressure sales tactics and the cardinal sin of not providing proper service because you aren't going to be profitable, a big problem in the industry for warrany and FTA (failed to authorize) vehicals.

Report to BBB and do a little resurch and report to the agency involved in Their "consent order" (I think thats what its called)
