My Honda Passport developed a transmission problem on August 20,2003. I drove it into a local Honda Dealership in Santa Barbara, CA. They decided that they wanted nothing to do with this one so they recommended to my extended warranty company that it be towed to Aamco. It was kept in this center and supposedly repaired after 5 days. I was outraged as I was on a business trip away from home and incurred hotel and rental car expenses. Little did I know that my problems had just begun.

It is now October 23 and I still don't have the car.
Every time I get the car back, supposedly repaired, (by now my extended warranty company has paid Aamco, Santa Barbara $2500)the problem returns, only much worse. I live in San Diego, so I have taken the car to another Aamco center in San Diego. When I complain, they just complain back that they're not getting paid and that it's Santa Barbarbara's fault.

I am caught in the middle of this internal bickering while this situation is ruining my life and ruining my business, as I am a salesperson and I drive to accounts all over California, Arizona, and Nevada. I have accumulated nearly $1,000 in rental car expenses. I reported this incident to the California Department of Automotive Repair, the "watchdog" agency which supposedly exists to discipline unethical repair shops.

They have informed me that my only recourse to get my car back is to sue. Can this be true?

POOR DIAGNOSIS AND NOT UNDERSTANDING THEORY

AUTHOR: TRANZMN - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 02, 2003

Victoria~~~i called the s/b and San diego shop~~s/b was unaware of the problem but had recieved a phone call that day (fri) 10/22/03~~~i spoke to the owner (rudy) at s/b~~~it seems that both shops have a diagnostic problem.~~~The first one didn't do it and the second is now trying to figure it out~~~The super tech/telephone guy at San diego said that the band apply happened when a loose pin in the case leaked pressure~~~the oposite is true the band "only" applies with pressure not the lack of it. I understand the problem~~It is a crossleak~~~probably from porosity/or torque during assembly. Now they think a case will be the only solution~~~now the problem is in the hands of San diego~~~s/b is out of the picture. San diego is losing big on this one because the intershop pay is low and now it just costs them money an time. Victoria~~~~~i feel the next step is to have them pay for a rental for the inconvienance of the warranty issue. To take care of you they should just get a factory reman instead of trying to learn diagnosis on your time. From the time its ordered and installed may be 3 days. Now the ball is in thier court. You can have it towed out and have it repaired with a factory reman and charge it back to San Diego who is now responsible for the warranty at this point since they touched it last. By the way your honda is an isuzu with a general motors transmission~~The same type of model as a Cadillac Catera. See victoria you thought you had a honda but you have a morphidite~~~~sorrie. Victoria~~~~~~The warranty you have with aamco is binding~~~~in the state of cally for niah~~~since "arnolds" here. You can take the vehicle anywhere you want and charge it to aamco S/B ~~~your best bet if itz reely a (isuzu) is to take it to an isuzu dealer to have them straiten it out~~quit wastin time with people who cant fix it right~~~~~~~by the way you can sue aamco for the costs incurred because of the repeated failures~~~(with documentation) but you have to do it in the county of the completed contract.
