Aamco rip-off Pearl River, New York, Internet

We took our car to the local dealership for a diagnostics test as the transmission light was flashing. W went to a local AAMCO shop in Pearl River, NY. We were met by Chris the owner and he advised that they could rebuild the transmission, and said that they could start on it immediately but would not have an idea of the extent until the next day or so. I asked him for a written estimate of the work and he said he wouldnt know that until he looked at the transmission.

After a few days we spoke and he advised that it would be 800.00 to take it apart and start the work, and that he estimated the job to be around $3,000 dollars which would include the standard rebuild kit. He also advised that price could be reduced a little if we were to pay him in cash - a point that was stressed several times, and should have been a clear indication. He advised however that the $800.00 required to start the job would be included into the overall costs if we proceeded with the job and that all he needed was a verbal ok to start. Once i said, okay to him, he started to work on the car and next week he said the car was ready.

I went to pick it up and when i was driving home i had the same problem occur. I then called him back regarding this issue and he said bring the car back and drop it off. I bought the car back and he said he would work on it. Following week he called me saying its oxygen sensor issue and you need to have that fixed. So i bought my car to auto garage and asked him to take a look at it and he said its a transmissions issue not oxygen sensor.

So i called chris and told him its not the sensor its the transmission and i dropped the car back to his garage in Pearl river. My car is still sitting there and he doesnt want to fix the car. I paid him $3000 in cash (i know i made a mistake) and my car is still not fixed. I have called the AAMCO headquarters and left many voicemails and no one has got back to me yet. This is really frustrating, I am out of car and $3000. If anyone has any suggestions please reply back.
