I ordered Acai Burn online from this company located on 2160 Sunnydale Blvd. in Clearwater FL. It was supposed to be free and only pay for shipping (which was $5.95).

I received the $5.95 charge on my credit card. No problem. Then, the following month I happened to go online to look at recent charges on my credit card and I noticed that my credit card was charged for $59.95 by this same company. I immediately called AMEX, my credit card company, and they removed the charge for me - thankfully. They told me they had lots of instances where things like this happen.

Acai Burn is closed today so I am calling them immediately on Monday morning when they open. I did not see anything whatsoever when I ordered my free sample that I was going to be charged $59.95 so I have no idea why I received this charge or what the $59.95 is supposed to be paying for.

I am extremely angry. I even looked to see if there was a catch to receiving this free sample (paying only $5.95 for shipping) and didn't see anything. Doesn't mean it wasn't there. I just didn't see anything. In my view, this is deceptive advertising and there should be laws against this. Whenever you see something that says FREE, there should be a disclaimer right near that word FREE that says "it's free only if . . . blah blah blah". This company is going to get an earful from my when I call them Monday. And, thankfully, my credit card company stopped the charge for me.

Well, as stated in my previous report, I called the 866-620-4731 phone number for ACAI as soon as they opened this morning. The company isn't ACAI that you get. You get a customer service group who handles customer service for about 25 companies. They told me that they have no problem canceling my account BUT the $59.95 charge they put automatically on my AMEX card was actually for the trial they already sent me! I said no, the trial you sent me was FREE (with a $5.95 shipping charge). They said in the terms and conditions, it states if you don't cancel within 15 days, they will charge you $59.95. I told them their advertising for this product was EXTREMELY deceptive. Nowhere in their web ad did it say you would have to pay $59.95 if you didn't return the product within 15 days. It said FREE and pay only $5.95 shipping. I told them there are laws about deceptive advertising and they are clearly in the category of deceptive advertising -- you don't bury information like this in the fine print that doesn't even appear in the ad itself.

I let them know they weren't getting their $59.95 (my credit card reversed the charge for me) and that my credit card company was not to accept any further charges from ACAI. I also told them I am going to pursue every avenue I am able to in reporting their outrageous scam to take people's money, including the Better Business Burear, the Attorney General's Office in Florida, the National Advertising Standards (if they take consumer complaints), and also the FTC.
