Active Beware of Hidden Charges San Diego, California

Just noticed a charge on my credit card for $64.95. I did not (intentionally) authorize this payment and have already contacted my bank. I have heard several other reports of people being charged by this company without knowing why. They all seem to be reporting the same thing. They used active.com to register for a race at some point in the past, and there was a checked box in the small print that automatically enrolled them for continuous membership. I hate this kind of stuff! I will NEVER use Active again to register for a race. It is so deceptive to automatically check the box for enrollment and then hide it in small print. If someone wants to enroll in something like this, they should have to elect it themselves then hit a confirmation button! I will be contacting some of the local races that active supports and make them aware of this. Hopefully this will cause race organizers to use a different company for registration.
