Beware of active.com when you sign up for "charity" road races.  My wife signed up herself and my 2 daughters to walk/run in the "Denver Iron-Girl" road race.  The charges showed up one month, then the next month, mysteriously, a $59.95 charge for "Active.com" membership.

Membership to what?  My wife is extremely careful about signing up for anything on the Internet, and a bit of web research indicates that this is an increasingly common complaint against this "vendor".  When I called the number given, after being on hold for a very lenghthy time, the customer service rep indicated that my wife had signed up for this membership (baloney), but she would graciously remove the charges from my card.

Uh-huh.  I wonder how many other people "signed" up for this membership and may not notice a $59.95 charge on their card?  Smells very fishy to me.  In any case, I will dispute the charge, file a complaint with my credit card company, complain anywhere I can, and I suspect in the very near future, read about a class-action against these clowns.

Active is Not a Scam

This Charge is not a fraud. In the registration process if one is going to fast they may miss this and think they have to agree to it to get the confirmation number. But if one were to read the page its on it states in big bold letter we have a free gift for you which is $20 in rebates and a 30 day trial of the Active Advantage membership it states below this if not canceled it will auto renew after 30 days.

Active has a 100 % satisfaction guarantee on this and if no one wants it they will cancel it. I learned this all after talking to a very nice rep in customer service when I had this earlier this year. She stated that they had sent me emails regarding this. I looked and low and behold they did I just ignored them. I found them pleasant and have signed up for more events with them. I have been more careful and Have not had any more charges. Active can not just make u take this offer that would be illegal. I recommend reading more closely
