Advantage America I was just called because i had been chosen to receive a government grant in the amount of $12,500... ripoff Winter Park Florida

Today is 1/16/06 and I just received a call from a woman with a Indian or Pakistani accent saying I had been awarded a $12,500 government grant. Supposedly this was "extra money" the government had not spent and was being re-distributed to selected taxpayers and because I have paid my bills on time and I was a taxpayer I was chosen. When I asked what branch of the government were they all they said was "ah ha " When I said no I am asking you what branch you are representing they said "The Federal Grant Branch" in San Diego. All I needed to do was verify my information with my checking, savings or credit card. So the money could be directly deposited into my account. I asked to talk to a supervisor and a man who identified himself as Matthew said exactly what the women had said and when I ask him to just send me the information to my address and I would read it over and make a decision he said do you realize this is free money to you and they just need to verify my account info. I told them no i needed to speak to my husband and could i get a number to call them back and they gave me this number 888-503-7305 which is a fax number. I have notified my local police and tv station of this scam and I just thought I should get it here too. People work hard for their money and it is a sham that people like Advantage America are willing to work hard ripping people off but not hard making an honest living. Just remember the government would not phone solicit and besides today is a national holiday I am pretty sure the government is closed today. Just be careful out there.
