We were checking into refinancing our home when Aegis lending contacted us. They had the best interest rate, and lowest closing costs to us, as well as being willing to work with us on several key features of the loan. Everything went according to plan, from the appraisal to closing. We were a bit surprised at the appraisal, we thought that it was high for our home, but at the same time shook it off saying that real estate was on the rise everywhere. Within 60 days of closing we started having problems. We had never received any monthly statements in the mail, and ended up calling to make payments by phone.
On the 3'rd payment by phone session we were informed that Aegis had sold our mortgage to Countrywide. At this point in time we are trying to sell our home which Aegis had appraised for $169,000 just 4 months ago. The potential home buyers have now had 2 new appraisals done on my property which now comes in at $151,000. So Aegis somehow played with this and got the home to appraise where they needed it, and got us into a loan that no other bank will match, as it is actually beyond the real value of our home. In the meantime the local branch office of Aegis lending has been shut down.
Aegis also never reimbursed us for postage that we paid to send doccuments back to them overnight. They prommised that they would reimburse us for the $60 that we spent on postage, yet they never did.
All in all it was a horrible lesson learned. I have been warning everyone that I know to stay away from these crooks.

I Agree they really are crooks

I worked at Aegis NH for two months and everything you said is totally true. The loans are very expensive with six points always added to the top and they train you to say it's pre-paid tax deductible interest charges and it's "the best part of the loan" which of course is another lie. They hire sales sharks that don't have a clue about the mortgage industry and the only motivation is to make money. They buy all the leads from Lower My Bills.com. I recommended you stay away from both companies.

I feel your pain on this. I wanted to refi my home, and submitted a request on a popular website used for gaining multiple quotes. Aegis HOUNDED me at LEAST 3 or 4 times a day. One time they even went as far as to tell me that they had already had a drive-by appraisal done, and that my house was appraised at $300K.
Because they appraised my home at over $70K more than I paid for it, and that it sounded like I was speaking to a TEENAGER, I finally told them I was not interested in doing business with them.
He told me to p*ss off before he hung up on me.
My loss? I think not.
