Affiliated Acceptance Corporation Paid for gym membership on 10/22/13 for 26 months. On contract membership term was dated 10/22/13 to 10/22/15. Notified Owner that it should have been 12/22/15 & he was to change. On 10/9/15 I received an invoice for $ 27.99 that the copy says I owe per month to continue membership or I may cancel with written notice. I wrote them on 10/10/15 to cancel. Received a letter from them dated 10/16/15 what they will accept cancellation once I pay the $27.99 for October. Called & was told the 2 extra months were paid for in the down payment and that I still owe the the $27.99. The letter threatens reporting to credit reporting agencies. Sunrise Beach Missouri

My husband and I signed up for a 2 year gym membership (with someone we actually knew) although he was using an agency to market and finance the memberships. The agent that signed us up convinced us that if we paid in full that day that he would give us 2 extra months of  membership for the same price . We paid in full on 10/22/13 and on the contract he wrote 26 months but then dated the membership term 10/22/13 to 10/22/15.  When I started training with the owner I mentioned to him that the dates were wrong and he said he would take care of it.

I stopped going to the gym around February 2014 due to a knee injury, but knew my membership was good until 12/22/15.  On October 9, 2015, I received an invoice from Affiliated Acceptance Corporation stating that I owe $27.99 for my continued membership which expires on 10/22/15.  In the contract it is written that I may cancel said membership in writing, which I went ahead and did on 10/10/15.

On 10/22/15, I received a letter a letter from AAC stating that they will accept my cancellation after I pay the $27.99.  I called and spoke to someone at their 1-800 number who was determined that I owe the $27.99 because my contracct is up on 10/22/15 and that I owe for October. I explained in my original letter that the dates were wrong  and that even though it was, that I still cancelled before my expiration date of 10/22/15. She was adamant that I still owe the $27.99 and if I don't pay it will increase by late charges of $10.00 per month. They threaten in their notice to report this to all national credit reporting agencies. We have EXCELLENT CREDIT!! and it probably would just be ignored by the reporting agencies, but I don't want to have to explain this to someone if it does get reported.  This company should be shut down and the owners put in jail!!
