AIMCO Never Rent From Them Slum Lords who'd rather make money than spend it fixing up their property ripoff Oceanside California

My husband fell through the deck stepping out of our second story apartment. When his accident ocurred I called office management and the manager 'Cami' came rushing over with one of her "office staffers" and maintenence and the first words out of Cami's mouth was, "where is your dog." Not even the least bit concerned with how severe my husband's accident was.

As a result, he suffered a fractured ankle, went through all kinds of tests, x-rays, physical therapy, etc. In the meantime, a representative from AIMCO called a few days later wanting to settle the claim and probably allow their insurance to "cover" the medical expenses (similar to Marcie's story from Plano, Texas) but we directed all their phone calls to our attorney. Now, similar, to Marcie's story my husband lost his job due to all of his medical appointments and now the office is trying to evict us because of our dog or we can get rid of our dog and stay.

The problem is tons of people in our complex have dogs and management is singling us out. Seems like a constant pattern for AIMCO's employees. Plus, one of the office staffers is 'knocked up' by one of the tenants that lives in the complex; in the AIMCO booklet it is against employee rules and regulations to have any sort of relationship with the tenants. Not to mention the repeated compliants we have written about loud, obnoxious parties, drugs and prostitutes in and out all night into the wee hours of the morning.

The police can't do anything about it and all these offenders get is a slap on the wrist, while people with dogs get eviction notices.

To add to AIMCO's long list of offenses are the paper-thin walls, cheap appliances, dry rot and wood rot decks and railings, bed bugs, bug and termite infestation, mold and mildew problems rampant through out all their properties (just so you know mold causes serious health risks)and countless amout of lawsuits for not keeping up their properties due to their negligence. But all AIMCO cares about are the 'curb side' appearances.

Just at our property in the past year they have replaced all the garden beds to the entrance of the complex a minimum of 4 times and they are constantly repainting the curbs red for the 'no parking' and the speed bumps white.

Every other week the maintenece workers are outside my parking space making sure the red curbs are all painted red and the speed bumps white. But when they came to replace the wood that my husband fell through (a month later) they replaced it with cheap wood and water based paint that has already peeled away after the first rain of the season and the wood board has a crack through it.

We aren't even talking about the railings on the deck that when you push your finger in the corner your finger goes right through the many painted layers of white water based paint and when you pull your finger out, the wood inside looks like shredded beef. The beam that is holding our balcony up with the neighbors has a hugh crack all the way through and can be seen by the naked eye that is has been repaired with wood putty. Don't ever rent from any AIMCO property unless you want more trouble than you can imagine in your lifetime.
