I had a reservation for months to go on a Best of Europe Tour from New York. The tour was paid for. I got vaccinations and visas and other necessary things. I had never been to Europe. This was a college graduation trip tour. I checked in and waited a long time. At one point there was an announcement for a passenger with my last name with a different flight number. I have a common last name and since it was a different flight number I did not respond. After a period of time I learned that the flight number was changed and the flight left without me. There was no later flight. When I complained the lady said we issued the announcement and she walked away. I think that nobody would respond to an announcement like this. If it had my first name I would have responded even with the wrong flight number. It was clearly their mistake for using the wrong (new) flight number I wrote multiple letters to Air France and they would do nothing to set things right,

Common Sense

Well at least you didn't say I worked for them...
You posted on a PUBLIC web site and as such the PUBLIC may post things that don't agree with your line of thought. The fact is that as much as you want to blame them...it was your lack of common sense that caused you to miss the flight.
You come here saying you have spent all of this time and energy preparing for a trip of a lifetime. We now find out that you are at the airport wating for "information". So if you want to come here and get everyone to think that you didn't think it was worth spending a minute or two to find out if that was you or not..go right ahead.
As for this information I bet if you told us what it was for it would make it even more obvious. Other things that would be very interesting are things such as what time did you arrive at the airport? What time was your flight scheduled to leave? What did your boarding pass say about the gate, flight number, boarding time, and time of departure? What exactly were you watching if you weren't at the gate?
Look, I am sorry you missed your trip. Hopefully if you learned anything from this, it perhaps is that if you ever hear your last name being called and you are somewhere waiting for "information", that perhaps it may be worth the few minutes to verify if they meant you or not.

Are you a profesional rebutter? I have seen you on several reports. I was not at a gate but was waiting for information. Air France never denied any of this happened or gave any excuse other than they made the announcement. Do you think with all the preparation I was not watching?

Where to begin
AUTHOR: Robert - (USA)

It is very hard to even try and figure out where to begin other than to wonder how in the world did you graduate College.
Because even IF they said the wrong flight number over the PA, there is NO scenario where you should have missed the flight if you were where you were supposed to be, when you were supposed to be.
You knew what time your flight departed, you knew what time you were supposed to board, you knew the gate number your flight left from, you knew what your destination was. Now, how did you know all of this...all of that information is on your boarding pass. Yes, you would have had a boarding pass because that is required to get through TSA to the gate. The gate also has this information posted.
So now, if you are at the gate when you were supposed to be and noticed people boarding a plane, didn't it occur to you that perhaps you should at least inquire about the page...just in case it was you? So yes, the whole "they didn't say my first name" was just a bunch of nonsense.
Now, of course if you say you were at the gate and you didn't see anyone the entire time and there was no flight posted..again wouldn't that clue you in that something might be amiss? If you say you didn't know what gate you were supposed to be at, again you could have asked someone to verify everything right. When you hear your last name in this case wouldn't that be even more of a reason to check?
So if we take out your total cluelessness out of this, what does that leave? Either you were totally involved in your own little world you failed to pay attention to what is going on, but in this case you wouldn't have heard your name. Perhaps you heard your name but mis-heard the flight number. Or perhaps you weren't actually where you were supposed to be and are trying to make up some story to get your money back.
