Hello Everyone,
For those of you looking into a college to better your future, don't choose AIU. I was doing just that when I decided to check out what they had to offer and the cost of the program.

I spoke to an enrollment advisor and asked all the questions a person would need to know. During the conversation I specifically asked what the estimated amount for me to recieve a bachelors degree at AIU without having any prior college experience, I was told that an estimated amount to attend AIU and recieve an bachelors degree would be about $29,000.

When I fist asked the lady she seemed hesitant about answering any question regarding the tuition cost. After her dodging the question a couple times she finally told me. I recently found out that the $29,000 is for people who already have an associates degree. I feel she completly mislead and lied to me. She KNEW I did not have any prior college education. She also talked about their accreditation.

Now I have found out that she was not being honest about that either. I will be finshing me associates degree in May, which will have cost me over $24,000. If I were to decide to continue on to recieve my bachelors degree it will cost me over $53,000, instead of the $29,000 I was told. I won't even go into the details about some of the people who also attend AIU and seem to recieve good grades even though they can barely seem to spell their name correctly. I don't know if there is anything legally I can do about being lied to and mislead on the cost, if so please let me know.

Either way if all I have accomplished by writing this is deter someone else from making the same mistake as me, I will be content.

The actual cost for an associate's degree is roughly 38.5k. That's comming in with no prior educational credits. Double that and there's your Associates + Bachelors. Masters degrees range from 38k - 52k.

That's a lot of money to attend a school that is on Academic Probation with their accrediting body (SACs). I'll bet money that your admin rep didn't tell you that.

If you feel that you have been mislead you should file a written report with SACs. www.sacs.org
