Alamo Rent A Car is guilty of fraud for encouraging their internet booking customers to participate in a rip off scam, whereby they encourage you to click an option for returning the car without filling up the gas tank and that they will charge you for the gas you used at a set price. I opted for this plan as I was led to believe that when I returned the car they would charge me for the rental and the gas I used (only tank.3/4 full), but in fact they charged me for a full tank.
When I returned the car, I questioned this charge to the Alamo rep that checked me in. All this person could do was grunt at me. She seemed to be annoyed that I woke her from the nap she was taking in one of the already returned cars in front of me. I also asked where to get the shuttle bus to the terminal and again she grunted some unintelligible sound at me, while flashing her red eyes in a menacing manner at me.
I finally walked over to the Avis office and they helped me get to the shuttle with a smile.
I feel that I should only be charged for the $57.01 for the two day rental, as agreed in the reservation.plus tax and the gas I used for 81 miles of driving (1/4 of a tank)
There are many complaints about Alamo ripping people off on the internet with this same scam. Google "Alamo Rip Off" and see all the complaints.

Directly under the Return Fuel at Any Level Option it states
"No refund will be given for unused fuel.
The total upfront fuel charge reflected is an estimate based on
the current prices and average tank size for the car class reserved.
This charge may change at time of rental."
When you click on the description you get the following
"With the Upfront Fuel Option, you prepay for a full tank of gas based upon an estimate of current prices and the average tank size for the car class reserved. This charge may change upon time of rental due to current fuel prices. No refund will be given for unused fuel. When the Upfront Fuel option is chosen, no additional fuel fees are charged to your rental upon returning the car."
So while the "prepaid" fuel charge is a big money maker, especially if you don't return it empty. They made it clear that you are pre-paying for a full tank of gas and that they do not refund any unused fuel. This is not just Alamo but most Car Rental Companies have this exact same offer and policy.
